Default Eclipse AVN5435 Installation Question

Hey guys,
I just bought the eclipse avn5435 and i can't wait to get nav/dvd capabilities. Plus, I think it looks awesome. But what is the deal with the parking brake ground wire? Apparently if you don't move the ground wire somewhere, certain features are disabled while driving? Are there any negative effects to moving the ground wire for the parking brake?

I have seen several threads where this is mentioned, but no real information on it, so any info that you guys can throw my way would be appreciated. Thanks!

bump, i'm kinda nervous about the install, anything that I should know about with this parking brake? or do I just simply hook up the wires (and ground the HU like any other unit) and it will be good to go?

Hook it to the parking break wire, problem solved. Install it correctly and you'll have no issues.

I hate to sound like such an idiot, but I really am a novice. Where is the parking brake wire, and how do I go about hooking that up? Do I take the p-brake wire from where it is now and relocate it, or attach it to the HU? I'm lost...sorry

Also, what about the speed and reverse wires?

Alright, well I got the unit today and looked over the instructions before I install it tomorrow. Here is my only question as of right now:

I see that there is a ground wire and the parking brake wire. Now having already said that I should ground the parking brake wire so I can use it when driving, should I put the ground wire and the parking brake wire to the same place (the same ground)??

i dont see why you shouldnt be able too? i have my ipod adapter along with a few other things grounded to the same point. along with my amp, capacitor and my fan to the same ground in my trunk area. i dont see why not. also be careful on the new units because some are not as simple as grounding the brake to gain full access to the stuff.

as for the wires, therers a wire diagram on the forums. and i heard most eclipse decks are plug and play with toyotas, so it should be easy, but im not too sure for i have yet to do it myself.

Alright, well as long as I can put it all to the same ground, that should be cool. From what people with this eclipse unit have told me, if that the directions say where to put the speed, parking brake, and reverse lines. But if you simply ground the parking brake line in place of putting it where the instructions say, you should be able to watch DVDs and more importantly use the nav while driving

Alright, well it was the purple for those who care. I'm not getting much traffic on this thread it seems, but i'll try one last question.

I was able to install the unit and I got everything working nicely (its awesome btw). I have an external sirius starmate 2 unit thats hooked up through the auxilary port. Unfortunately, my avn5435 is not registering it, so I can't use my sirius. It is definitely hooked up right, any ideas?

did you suscribe to sirius? sirius and XM require subscriptions for their services. if you did and its purely visually connected, you may have a faulty receiver. and might wanna shoot a call to eclipse and ask them whatsup.

Yea, i'm subscribed. I actually just figured it out. I am plugging the aux directly into the VTR spot and bypassing the aux105 cable that i'd been using. It works now....i amazed myself! lol

Thanks for the help adr
