Elemental Design Subwoofer Issues
I bought an 11ov.2 subwoofer and had it installed in my scion running on a Nine2x amp in a custom fiberglass enclosure. It has been giving me nothing but problems. i cant figure out what is going wrong with my sub but it is making abnoxious sounds. i talked to the tech guys and they said air leak but i checked it out no leaks and i also brough it to the guy that did the install and he claims nothing is wrong with my subwoofer. I was wondering if it could be the wiring. He wired the sub in stereo 2x300@2 ohms. and i was wondering if that could be the problem. if anyone has some feed back that would be awesome anything will help.
You may think that it's air-tight, as did I, but I heard a squeaking sound when my sub would hit hard, so I watched it. It was jumping off the box! So I drilled it down further, and I no longer have problems.
I'm not denying that eD never has lemons, but it's pretty much unheard of, at least on these boards.

If the sub's coils are running stereo off of the amp, is the amp's input set to mono? If not, the voice coils will be seriously unhappy when one coil is playing one note while the other coil is trying to play another.
Though I don't know why it's not just running bridged. Makes more sense.

eD tests all their subwoofers before they ship them out. i highly doubt that its a subwoofer issue. On the flip side i also thought my sub boxes were air tight then i filled them up with water and there were a ton of small little pin sized holes.
Did you get a dual 2 or dual 4 ohm sub? Dual 2 should be wired in series: positive of one terminal goes to the negative of the other terminal, than then positive and negative terminal that haven't been wired are hooked up to the bridged channels of the Nine.2x. Set the gain properly and you should be jamming.
Call or e-mail ED and they'll get you taken care of. Phone : 641.792.2501 or http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/kay...kets&_a=submit

1. Use weather stripping around the mounting ring to make sure there is an airtight seal between the sub and ring.
2. With the gain turned all the way COUNTER-CLOCKWISE, put your volume on your radio to 50%, turn off bass boost, set loudness off, set the EQ to flat or natural and play a 20 hz tone. Move your head around the fiberglass box and listen to any whistles/air leaking in the box. If you find them, have someone patch them up
3. If everything is fine at this step, call ED, tell them what you've done and they'll help you.
Not even God could tell you what's wrong on an internet forum, especially when you won't tell us how it's wired, what airspace the box is, what voice coil configuration the sub is(S2, S4, D2 or D4) nothing.
