Default Everyone with a short shifter

I installed my short shifter last night. When I went to redo the shift boot and the little silver ring thing it just makes it sit too high so im not able to screw on my shift ****. Hopefully I wrote that so everyone can understand what I mean. Any help is appreciated

TIA

On some, you need to ream out the collar a bit. A piece of sandpaper wrapped around a drill bit works well, but a dremel would be faster.

Yeah I was thinking about that, just needed some input because I noticed other people still had theirs in the shift **** thread. I got Doc's SS. So its not that the ring thing is too tall just that when it slips down it should go all the way down but the shift boot will hold it up?

Yep, I have the same shifter with the stock collar. You can actually get a collar from Doc. But I just reamed mine out a tad and it worked like a charm. The lower part of the shifter is a tad larger, so that is why you are having issues sliding it down far enough to put on the shift ****. My Dremel died, so I just used a large drill bit wrapped with some 120 grit sandpaper. Only took a few minutes to get it the right size.
