Default finally did the Big 3... and then washed the car up a lil :)

ok i did the BIG 3! went perfectly smooth, no problems at all.

my voltage seems to be constantly at a higher number(especially when driving). my voltage was never above 14 except for first thing in the morning on a cold start. right when i started the car up(which had been run maybe an hour earlier) it was at right at 14.4 and stayed above 14.2 while driving at average speeds. at quick stops at stop signs or stop lights it stayed about 13.9-14.2 for the most part. i was sitting in line at the car wash for about 15 minutes playing my music at a moderate level and it slowly went down to about 13.4-13.6 and stayed there until i drove off. with the car off listening to music at a moderate level it seems about the same as before, a constant 12.4-12.5 after a few minutes of playing.

i don't really seem to have any voltage drop. i'll report back next time i drive it at night with the headlights and stuff on. but i don't expect anymore than a .2 drop. everything seems pretty stable now.

here are a few new pics of the wiring, the trunk and the car since i just washed it. it is quite dirty under the hood, but it's winter.

thanks man. today it's nice out and in the lower 40's. saw some crazy people driving with the tops down on their cars, saw some motorcycles out. and the line at the car wash was crazy long!! so yea it's kinda nice out here. lol

I think those are the best places to run the wires for it. if you run them exactly the same as me you'll need only 8 feet of wire and 6 ends.

thanks bud! :-) i am a huge knukonceptz fan now. i had some BAAADD noise problems with some cheap rockford fosgate rcas. got the knuconcetpz Krystal Kables and the noise went away 100%. so for any wiring needs i will go with them for now on. great prices too. got the rca's a few weeks back for $50 shipped(4 meters, 6 channels). and just now got 10 feet of the 0 gauge wire and the 6 ends for only $36 shipped.

oh and i see it's your birthday. so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

yes, knukonceptz is the way to go for all wiring needs. I switched form Stinger with my JL Audio system to KnuKonceptz with my eD system and i like it better, also alot cleaner looking. I need to finish my BIG3 but im using 4awg and some wire loom from eD to clean it up a bit.

do you have anything securing the cable from the alt to the battery? If not you better secure that and I would wire loom it to help with a little heat protection.

i think it's one of the spots that the stock intake bolts to. i just sanded it bare and used it. seemed like a nice solid point.

started the car today to go out for a lil bit.... when it first started up my voltage was at 14.7!!! then stayed above 14.4 for a good bit. the big 3 in my car made a HUGE difference even in keeping the voltage at a higher number.

nice to know i can now get rated power out of my amps(the power ratings are at 14.4v), even though numbers are just numbers.

anybody thinking about doing the big three do it! $36 bucks shipped is all it costs for 10ft of wire and 6 ends. it's worth it!

quick question about the grounding spots

are all those bolts and mounting holes there or do you have to drill and find new bolts?

if so do you remember the size?

also when i get started im going to use 4ga and see if we get similar results.

Most of the factory stuff looks to be 8ga or smaller so the 4ga should help out alot.

0 seems like to much ......I cant belive im sayiung that =(

the spot on the motor was an empty hole that was already threaded. i think 12mm, the spot on the frame i think was a mounting spot for the stock intake box. so if you have an intake it should be an open 10mm threaded hole.

4 gauge should work well to, but there is no such thing as too much. the bigger the wire the less resistance of the wire and the more amperage you can use. i also think the huge ___ wire looks cool. lol. it's definitely is a very worthwhile mod. really helped in my car a lot!
