it might be hard to tell from the pic, but it is pretty close to the center.

That's how I have mine placed, best place, and if you ever get pulled over you can unhook the cable and tuck it under the headliner (where the glass meets the headliner).

For added stealth, I placed it underneath my windshield tint banner as well..

don't place it high......so when the cop pulls behind you, he can clearly see it next to the mirror. If you're going to pull it off when he's right behind you, don't bother...the quick commotion in the car can alarm him.

here....don't place it high

why doesn't anyone just make a radar detector/laser detector/laser jammer in a mirror?? Seems like that would be a pretty easy fixall that looks stock and is easy to install.
why do you need to hide the radar detector if you get pulled over? F**K the police, they're gonna write you up anyway, radar detectors are legal (unless you live in VA I think).

but cops don't like them......if you get pulled over, theres always a chance the cop will let you go with a warning (given you're not doing anything too bad), but if he / she sees the radar detector...game over

Cops don't like them because it cuts down on their profit, kind of like car thiefs don't like alarms. . .

anyone know about the mirror idear I asked yesterday? I would buy one in a second.

didn't mean to threadjack, nice work on the install sgj! does it work okay? saved your a$$ yet?

they have descreet ones where you mount on sensor in/on the mirror, one in the back glass and the lights in the dash. its a pita to install though.

looks good in those links about the mirror kit. I have a beltronics RX65, the best one that Radar Roy tested and recommends, im thinkin of a little dismantle to stick the senors on my dash. once, i can think of a design on paper i'll post it here somewhere.

I talked with some dudes at V1 today and they said one of the main features of the V1 is that it's housed in a magnesium case. I tried to call bull$hit but they were pretty serious about it. So an entire unit swap would need to be housed in magnesium also, as their microwave sensors are designed for it. Might be tough to find a magnesium mirror. . .

i'll proably rig the sensors to an air freshener or something and run the wires down the dash. i'll be taking the wire with the mute apart to rig it also and another switch to be the off/on button. I just need to think of a way to conseal the sensorts so it looks like its part of the airfreshener and be un mountable when unneeded . i'll do some diagrams later and post here if you are interested.

To answer your question Bozuzu, yes it works great. I realize it might work better if it were sitting lower in the windshield, but I just can't stand the looks of it there.
