Default Fitting Mazda 6 Shift **** on ours?

I know the threads are different thread sizes but can anybody tell me if I can (and how) make it happen? I love the way that **** look and I'd love it in my tC

Thanks

tap and die is like a helicoil.... go to an autoparts store and they can help you find the right one....

A tap and die set is used to make your own threads. Pretty simple (but sometimes expensive to buy a whole kit). Just find out what size the rod for the shifter is, and if its bigger than the hole for the Mazda shifter, buy the correct "tap" for the rod. Then take it and tap the shifter ****. Now the shifter will screw right on. Or you can buy a die and make the threads on the rod the same as the mazda shifter. But if you do this, the factory will never fit again.

Now if the rod on the tC is smaller than the threads on the shofter, you will have a problem, because you cant add metal, you can only take away.

To give and idea of what a tap is. This site shows them for sale. Its pretty much a drill bit that threads as it goes in.
(A die looks like a nut, but it cuts threads as it goes on)

Tap and Die sets are great to have. Especially when you cross thread something.
