Default FLIP UP INDASH TV

anybody got any pics of a flip up indash tv in theyre tc? i just ordered 1 and was wondering if the scion stereo cover got in the way of the screen when it fliped up ?

i'm curious to know as well. my guess is that it won't work with the cover.

It sure won't. You'll have to cut the door, or leave the door open all the time.

even with the door open i don't think the screen will be able to fully flip out. i think it will hit the screen.

Oh, it can be made to fit. I just drilled new holes in the mounting brackets to push the HU forward about half an inch. Hence the need to cut the door.

hmmmmm..... how bad does it look it you get rid of the door all together? anybody taken the door off and left it that way?

With the door removed-- even with a nice trim ring around the HU-- it looks like a gaping hole in the dash. The cut door still functions normally. I have an AudioControl EQ back there.

got a pic of that? lol sorry. i'm just trying to decide if i should do a flip out or a double din. i might be able to get a used alpine flip out pretty cheap from a friend

Actually, I don't. I can probably get one tomorrow, though.

I would have gotten a double-din if they had made one with the features I wanted back in early '05. Clarion has the unit I want out now, but I can't bring myself to spend the money to replace a perfectly functional unit.

yea i like some of the double dins but i like the idea of a flip out, and i might be able to get one at a sweet price very soon.

i custom fitt my dvd player on the original brackets using the plastic mounting kit you buy
