Default Fog lights both suddenly turned off

I was driving down the freeway, I pull off to make a call and put the car into park leaving the lights and engine running.

after im done with the call, I accelerate, my lights dim for a sec and then both of my fog lights turn off.. I've tried the little button to turn them on/off and they wont go back on.. do the fogs have a separate fuse? I cant believe that both fog's would have burned out, perhaps they did but i havent checked them yet..

Anyone know what could be the prob? i haven't done a single thing to my electrical system except put in an amp/sub and farad and it's been installed for almost 2 years now..

so..does anyone know if the fog lights have a separate fuse?

Probably a fuse issue.

Ok..so I changed the fuse..no go.. I dont have the "mini" blade fuses like the car uses, but I found some small ones from the Toyota dealer and he said that it should work no problem, just will stick out a little bit..

what could cause both my OEM fog lights to suddenly shut off at the same time..?

or 6. a short that caused things to go poof...
though that would've caused 1. fuse to be blown.

uhh.. the fuse isn't under the hood btw... it's inside the car.

Yah, I saw checked the 2nd set of fuses and saw the FOG's under my steering wheel on the left side..

I checked out the bulbs and neither looked burnt, and neither housing is cracked..

I lifted my hood and see that all the wires are still connected, so I guess i'll just take the paneling off under them and take each light out and see if they are bad/burnt..

They are aftermarket yellow bulbs.. I still have my stock oem bulbs so I'll try and put those in.

It's been raining in so cal pretty bad lately.. but at the time it wasn't raining.. although I was driving down the freeway at the time and it looked like I ran over a bunch of shrapnel from a car, when this happened I thought my fog's were going to crack because I ran over a bunch of stuff.. but I pulled off and saw both fog's still running.. they didn't shut off until after I removed the car from park and accelerated..

Ok.. I put the stock OEM fog lights back in and they still wont turn on.. I've changed the fuse and nada..

I see that one of the fog lights that I took out, the coil isn't separated but it is bent and it's black at the top which would indicate it's burned out.. the other fog looks fine..

If it's under warranty, take it in.

Ok..so I took my car into the dealer and the guy goes "We'll run a diagnostic on it, and it usually runs about 290 bucks." I was like.. whoa? wtf? and started acting like shouldn't this be covered under warranty?

so my brother comes over (he drove his car there so he could drive me back) and he goes "so whats the cost?" and the dude said 290 bucks.. and my brother flips out, and was like "dude, if I take my car to infiniti, they'll fix pretty much whatever I ask and without questions" then the guy was like "well this is a toyota policy..blah blah blah"

so my brother goes "lemme talk to your boss"

so a few minutes goes by and I guess the guys boss comes out and starts saying stuff like "well it looks like your fog lights are aftermarket, and we dont warranty against that" and I'm like "wait a sec.. first off, I put a yellow film over my lights and bought aftermarket bulbs in your service area" and then the guy goes "ok well those should be warrantied.."

so to make a long story short, I go "well I need my fog lights fixed..so lets just do it"

like 4-5 hours goes by and i get a call from toyota and the guy was like "well there was a shorted wire in your ground, so we replaced the wire..and because we couldn't determine if it was you that caused this, the manager has decided to just eat the cost.." I was like YES!!!

so I go pickup my car, and the original guy starts talking to me, and a few minutes later I was like "it's service like this that will keep me bringing my car back.." and then he goes "exactly.. the first thing we did was check your history and saw that you bring your car here every time, and for each maintenance so that was the deciding factor" he was like, "i cant stress enough that people bring their cars here versus taking it to some regular mechanic.. we know about the cars, we may be a little more expensive, but we know what we're doing, we warranty our work .."

so yes, they fixed my lights and for free... woo

That's cool, but no way for me for non-warranty servicing.
The money I save using my own mechanic and doing it myself would pay for a lot.
I'm glad you got it fixed, and for free, but dealers charge WAY TOO MUCH for me to use them.
