Default Gauge Swap Resistor Question

I am doing an LED Gauge swap and have the 6 resistors off but I noticed one was the 471 resistor..I have an automatic tranny..does it matter if I put that one on instead of the 331?

The led in question will be a bit dimmer with a higher rated resistance.

I never have swapped resistors on the gauge cluster, and have never had one customer (out of hundreds) want it personally. I designed the HVAC mod to match the brightness of the gauges without swapping its resistors. And any brighter and they become more distracting at night. Even with my added needle lighting mine are a bit bright at night after driving a while.

why does everyone complain about how bright they are with the resistor swap? i personally am fine with the LED's being so bright, i just did the blue swap. there's always the little dimmer control....

It isnt complaining, it is just that it is nice and bright without it, and as I stated above, the hvac mod is designed to match the brightness without the resistors on the gauges swapped, so if you turn the dimmer down, there will still be a noticeable difference. I know this, because I spent a good amount of time in trial and error designing the hvac circuit mod to make it match pretty closely, and I could definitely tell a difference that bothered me at least when the hvac was dimmer than the gauges. If anything, the gauges should be dimmer since they are aimed directly into your face. We were doing these for a couple of years before people started changing the gauge resistors out and they look great. Actually, with blue especially, I tend to turn my dimmer down on long night drives because they become a tad distracting to the eyes. Of course, with my setup, I like to turn the dimmer to zero since my needles remain lit... looks nice that way

If you want the gauges brighter, then there is no issue doing the resistor swap on them. But a lot of people have the impression it is needed lately, so that is why I clarify. The HVAC needs the mod or the leds are incredibly dim.

HVAC resistor swap is required if you are doing the blue, white, green color LED..

I've started the optional resistor swap for the gauge cluster, cause pretty much most of customer likes it bright as possible..

All I did was match the LED to get typical current where blue, white, green LED can light up at brightest without compromising the reliability issue..
