Good Head Unit with USB iPhone Connectivity?
Hey. Not sure if this is the right forum but I think it is!
Anyway,
I have an 05 tC. Standard 6 CD head unit (if only I knew how much of a waste that would be 5 years later). I want to replace it with a good head unit that supports the iPhone, and doesn't cost too much.
I know pretty much all head units with aux in jacks can connect to the iPhone and play music that way. But while I was browsing I came across this head unit:
http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Audi.../dp/B0015MN5EU
Aux/USB jacks on the front, along with the ability to add in Bluetooth, XM, iPod cable and more for $105? Sign me up!
Problem is, I can only find confirmation that the USB jack works with iPods, and we all know how that goes when trying to find compatible devices with the iPhone. And I could buy that cable which is verified to work ( http://www.crutchfield.com/S-anDGQoY...CA-DC300U.html ), but I have no idea how much it costs or where I could run it to look neat.
So, bottom line is, I'd rather be able to hook a cable from my iPhone straight into that front USB port and charge and play from my iPhone. But I don't know if it's possible.
So, does anyone have experience with this head unit? Or is there another one that you guys would recommend? Cheaper the better! As long as it still works great.
Thanks in advance for any options
Edit: After doing a little more research I came across these:

The only difference seems to be that the KDHDR50 supports HD Radio, which, eh, I guess is the next big thing? How important is that? I see one of my local radio stations supports it, I guess the other might soon.

Well here may be some more options for you.

I don't have an iPhone yet so I can't say. My one friend bought a cheap Dual HU and it isn't too bad. I was surprised, I have seen worse.
