I've searched and searched...no luck

I have a pioneer 8600 deck and there is an orange and white wire coming out and the diagram says to tap it into "LIGHTING SWITCH TERMINAL"...

what is that? necessary or not? tap that wire into something else? I'm lost on this one. Manual was no help.

That's your dimmer wire. It dimms the lights on the head unit when the headlights are turned on.

 

To answer your question, It's not necessary.

Dont bother its not worth it cap it off.

 

yeah its not necessary, but at night that OEL display is bright as hell. I always hook up the dimmer wire, it only takes about 30secs to do.

 

Yeah, that 8600 screen can be pretty bright.

 

I don't know if my brother and I have a defective headunits, (Same headunits in two different cars) but everytime I hook the dimmer switch up, it barely gets dim. You can just not even bother with it

 

on pioneer units you have to turn the dim feature on. It comes from the factory in the default position of off. You can also adjust how much you want it to dim also

 

the 8600 is one of the few regular Pioneer HU's I like....

 

Is the 8600 6.5 volt per outs also ?
