Default hardwiring radar detector question. please help

I need to wire hard wire my new radar detector and want to know where to get the power from. If I was able to tap into the cigg lighter that would be the closest best thing ....but should I do that? Is it safe to just use a line like that instead of getting it from the fusebox?

If anybody knows the answer to this that would be great. Im looking to install the product tuesday afternoon.

u can either use a wire tap but u will need an inline fuse since the male cig plug has one inside. or you can get a mini fuse tap, that comes with a extra slot for the fuse. its 12v no matter where u get it from.

What I did was mount my detector to the winshield under the driver visor. Ran the wire under the edge of the headliner to the pillar and down and fished the wire in behind the mirror controls and tapped them so it comes on only when the car is on.

Errruuh, doesn't Valentine make front/rear mountable sensors for their V1? then you could hide your unit somewhere discrete like the cubby yet still function like normal. Not sure bout dis, just thinkin out loud.

the valentine is one unit with front and rear 'detectors' it however would be pointless to put it in the cubby as it would just be detecting the front of the cubby... put it in the center of the winshield high enough where the rear sensor would be able to detect radar coming straight in from the back. No remote usage either, its all wired but I know that you can run the wire along the back of the dash and make it very clean

LOL, no, I mean, I think it has REMOTE sensors you can mount ELSEWHERE and run to the detector. But I can understand how that was confused
