Default Hatch shocks broken, looking for replacement part?

Have a Tc that is almost 2 years old. Yesterday, the shocks on the sides of the hatch back that hold it open just stopped working. I called a local dealer and the price they gave me was $131.00 per shock. Before I drop the money with them, is there any other place you guys know of to buy that stuff were it does not cost so much?

Fixing up my JEEP, I know you never purchase from the dealer, it is just too expensive so I am hoping the same might hold true for this as well.

I am still trying to get it under warrenty, but they car has 37000 miles on it now. Technically it is not covered since I am 2000 over the mark.

Anyone know where I could find these?

Thanks in advance.

Go to trdsparks. That's where I've gotten most of my tC accessories. Here's a link for the product you're looking for...

Hope this helps!

i've switched about two sets before...

one because it was worn... and then Tim (wedrivescions) had a heavy hatch because of all the sound deadening... so i gave him a set of the stronger ones that are used for the pedestal spoiler install.

hmm.. i don't think they'd be under warranty... they're not to hideously expensive anyway.

like $40 at trdsparks?
or another option is be buddy, buddy with a parts install guy and when they install a pedestal spoiler... take the old struts... (they normally just throw those away..)

I guess so, but I bought a scion/toyota thinking I wouldn't have to put up with that kind of hassle.

Are the stronger struts much better? I don't want to have to constantly replace them...

Thanks for the reply and thanks in advance for additional input.

the stronger struts are just that.. stronger... they're able to lift up more weight... so if you install them on a stock hatch without anything...

opening it up a few inches the struts can already lift up and open the hatch the rest of the way..
