Default Help! Car at dealership for s/c removal, need advice.

So, after all the trouble with the trd s/c, it's being removed. Only problem is the ecu. I purchased a used ecu with same year, model, transmission and dealer says that it isn't syncing with the key. I need your guys help to find out why it isn't syncing? Also, I have remote start with a valet in the car to bypass the immbolizer. Dealer said the problem with the ecu had something to do with the immobilzer. Do you guys think my remote start is causing the trouble?

I searched on SL and found this DIY: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...hlight=diy+ecu

I will bring that to the dealers attention and hopefully that solves the problem.

Thanks for any input

I dont know if the immobilizer has anything to do with it but I do remember somethin about only being able to have 4 keys synched to your car at one time. Its possible the slots are already filled. Make sure they have erased all other keys from the ECU and then try again. This should be common sense with a dealer but you also learn to never make assumptions that they know anything at all.

LOL...isn't that the truth....I've done so much custom work in the past on my cars/ and now too....that my local Toyota/Scion dealer here called me when another tC owner came in wanting to do a mod...and asked me how to do it knowing I had already done the same mod on my tC myself.

I know it's a crazy idea, but then again the "crazy ideas" always are the best. Could you imagine the work we could do on all those Scions? As a real dealership? If we only had the $$$ to start something like this up. That would be very very cool.

i did the same thing but at home. found a wrecked tc and got its ecu. same model year and tranny.

you need to do this paperclip thing. its a document garage1217 came across in the toyota manuals. its posted on the forum somewhere as a pdf file. it involves shorting two contacts together on your OBDII port for about half an hour with your key in...
