Default Help with install.

So I desided that I needed to upgrade my sound system with an amp. I already have in the car a alpine 9856 deck and focal 165 A1 components in front and 165 CA1 in back. So I got a Rockford Fosgate P450.4 Punch 4-channel 450W Amp and the appropriate 4g wiring kit. I do the install and the thing says it has power but there is no sound coming out the speakers. I checked all the conections and they all seemed good. I played arond with all the settings on bot the deck and amp (btw the rockford amp manual is not very helpful to say the lest). What do I do now? Should I just go to an install place and pay the 60 bucks for them to do it over again? Any ideas?

Take a speaker with a length of wire attached and try it on each output terminal on the amp. IF you get sound, the inputs on the amp are good, and you have a speaker wiring problem. If you get no sound, you likely have a source wire problem.

Basic troubleshooting. Start at the amp and work your way forward.

Thanks for replying doc. So I tried this and got nothing out of the speaker. I have a front speakers and back speakers set of RCAs going from the deck to the amp and I checked the connections of both of these cords and could not seem to find anything wrong. When I unplugs all the RCA cables from the amp the power light on the amp went off so it knows when the cables are hooked up... I wish I could figure this out it's rather irritating. Any more thoughts?

To my knowledge, the amp should power up whether the RCAs are attached or not. This leads me to believe that the RTL isn't turning the amp on as it should be, or there is some other issue with the power/ground wiring to the amp.

I am sorry but what is the RTL? So I should check the power wires?
