How do I take this knob off?

How do I take this **** off?
The ****: located at the driver seat on the left side when sitting down. It controls the elevation/level of the seat.
I spent the last half hour messing with this dumb ****, twisting it all the way left and right, pulling and can't get it off. Does anyone know how to get it off? I know this can't be that hard.. any help is greatly appreciated
