i mean like when you play rap songs how hard does it hit...does it have enough bass? i aint a crazy bass type person but i do like it to have some hit like shake mirrors?

hmmm cause my friend in his 2006 eclipse with the 10in sub and i wanted a more bass then that sub. So would i need 2 10's instead?

 

idk, a buddy of mine just got an sq10 in an underseat box put into his xB, and even with 300 watts rms sent to it, you dont really get *alot* of bass. i know my setup doesnt compare by far (i have 2 10's, and 1200 watts rms split between the 2), but his is almost stockish on some songs (ti-top back plays loud and hard in my car, and his sub barely touches the bass notes in that song)

 

yea that exactly what im talking about...i want to hear it bang not just a little improvement on the stock speakers bass. Neothin what do you recommend as a nice set up? i want at least 2 10's or 2 12's at max

 

well uhhhh, i dont have alot of experience with subwoofer setups. I've listened to alot of different components...

my JL w6's make me happy with 2 10w6v2's in a built-to-spec sealed enclosure run by an eD NINe.1 @ 1 ohm load (1200 watts rms being split between teh 2), i metered @ 138.6 i think this reading was off a little though. i went with another tC with 2 mtx's and 1500 watts rms being split between them both and he metered @ 139.7. the week before at a different bass comp he metered @ 143. his friends were also metering lowering than they normally were, so this leads me to believe that my reading was also lower than it should be. now that i finally sound deadened the car completely this week, im sure i picked up another decibel or two.

then get 2 10's or 2 12's. the point of the sq10 setup is to not lose any cargo space. mine's currently running of a JL 250/1 and it does just fine....i'll be changing that up to a nine.2 bridged in a week or two which'll give it about 430 rms or so.

if you're willing to give up cargo space then of course you can do better. if you want 2 12's, you want them on the cheap, but you want awesome quality...both SQ and SPL too....then grab 2 eD 13Ov.2's. those hit very comparably to the w6's for about 177 a piece when you call over the phone to place your order (phone orders=10% off)....or if you buy the amp and the subs together...15% off. just give eD a call and tell them what you're looking for. they'll be glad to help you.

 

hey tc_skier so how good does the sq10 sound? does it give it enough bass in your opinion?

 

i have heard 3 different set ups with the sq10.

first was the stealth box by ed.
second was the crazy 6 sq10's by ed
and third was the dual sq10 box that was custom made by me.

6 is a bit over the top and 2 you can feel it but 1 is really a nice touch. it hits hard enough and what harrison is saying is semi true but it is a LOT better than the stock sub and a lot better than a lot of the setups out there. its not meant to hit hard. the sub is called sq10 = sound quality 10.

 

yeah but i dont listen to a ton of rap....it definitely bumps....but it all depends...it might not be enough for some people. it surely rattles my mirrors so i'm not worried about that...then again...my mirrors rattled just off my polk db6500 comp set i got rid of a little while ago...

honestly dude....i'd say get it. if you dont like it, tell eD you're not satisfied...they'll give you a full refund...and then if you want to you can get a different sub from them such as a 13Ov.2. you gotta be more specific though....what exactly are you looking for in a sub? Extreme SPL? Does SQ matter? how much space are you willing to give up? what kind of music do you listen to. answer those and we can get you somewhere man.

 

no matter what ed will have something you are looking for.

i wanted some sound quality but wanted to be competitive with spl so i went with a dual 16ov.2 setup

 

i think ima just get the sq10 and try it out now anyone got a suggestion on the HU, i was thinking alpine 9857 but 340 is a little much

Wow, looks like alot, no way i could cut the top off and make a new top to fit 2 of the sq10s? and how hard was it to do it urself, 1 to 10, ten being the hardest?
