How to make the built in AUX port work with an aftermarket head unit?
I have a 2007 scion tc with a built-in AUX port in the center console. I am thinking about getting the Pioneer AVH-p4200dvd head unit for the tc, but I don't want to lose functionality of that AUX port. The new head unit has an aux port at the rear of the system, but i like the convenience of using the one in the glove box. It looks a lot cleaner and I hate having ports and buttons that don't work. My main question is if it is possible to route the rear aux port from the aftermarket head unit, to the aux port in the glove box, so that the stock aux port can be used to play on the new HU. It may seem trivial, but i'm looking to get a really clean install. If you know anything about the matter or know somebody that has done something like this, please comment. I'm no expert in car stereo, but i'm not a lost cause either. I'll most likely understand whatever answer you give. Thanks in advance.
That's what I was hoping. If that is the case, then it should be possible. I'm just afraid that the AUX port might connect to the new HU using the wiring harness. If that is the case, I don't think the HU would recognize the AUX port, and i'm kind-of thinking that's what will happen.. But if so, there still might be another way, it might just be more trouble than it's worth.
