Default How to make my A/C colder?

It seem my A/C has gotten weaker since i bought my 07 tC. The A/C has not been cooling the inside of my car as fast.

My bros Civic cools his down extremely fast and i was wondering what can I do to my A/C to make it colder and blow air out harder?

Well I doubt you need a freon recharge, but it's possible if your cooling system has a leak. You should take it to the dealership to be checked out if you really think there's a problem. There's really no DIY solution to make your AC colder...put ice cubes in ziploc bags on your lap... that will chill you and your nuts down pretty quick.

actually it's possible it wasn't charged up to the max level from the factory. that's probably what it is. Others on here have found that to be the case. if it's not blowing cold, then the refridgerant isn't up to the correct level.

Mine is the same way. It just doesnt seem to cool down the car fast enough and even having it on high it seems like you car barely feel it.

don't do it yourself, it's definitely covered under warranty. Yeah I'm telling ya, it definitely sounds like there is either too much or too little r-134a (refrigerant) in the system. If there is too much or too little, has the same effect, very slow to cool.

First the dealer will stick a thermometer in the vents to see what temp it's blowing out, then they will see it's too warm, they'll evacuate the refrigerant from the system, and see how much refrigerant comes out, and then ask them to put the max amount into the system. which on ours I think is 1.0lb. You'll see a difference right away.

It doesn't take mine 10 minutes to get cold air. I get very cold air from the vents within about 5 seconds! just get to the dealer and let them check it out, if they're any good, they'll find it and fix it quickly.

I noticed that if I also press the button right below the A/C button is gets colder faster.
It is the recirculate button with the car and the arrow.
As you are cooling the air that is already cold and not hot air from outside.
Good Luck!

unless the aftermarket system has tapped the power to the hvac controls (lcd panel). I don't see how the sound system could affect the a/c's performance.

Default air conditioning

I had this same problem back when i first got my car in 2005. I took it to the dealer and they said it was blowing at optimal level...=/ till this day it's still not COLD enough for me. Now that summer is coming around, I really want SUPER COLD AC!

My '06 tC is the same. One time going to Scion Night with some friends, rolling down the window while driving worked better than the a/c. About the only thing cold in the car was my hand/forearm when the a/c was on. The dealership told me that it was at the optimal level too, when I took it in soon afterwards.

^^^ I think that the dealer telling you "it's fine" is just a lie. I'd make them evacuate the system and prove to you how much refrigerant came out of the system. Then when it's not the correct amount, then you can smile and say "Told ya so!" Do these people just come into work and make up lies just so they can do nothing all day and still be paid?

if it's cooler by rolling your windows down, it's OBVIOUS there's something wrong with the a/c system. Maybe try another dealer, someone who actually LISTENS to your problem?

well i got back and they said it was fine. They left my car in the sun for 30min and then cool it down to 42 degree in 3min time. I told them to pump 1lb of refrigerant but he said that if you pump too much then it'll mess up the ac since he did it to his own car (not a tc) and it took longer for his ac to cool it

I actually went to more than one dealership and they all said that. Maybe I just had too many people in the car (4 live bodies) giving off heat?
