Default how much?

Hey, I was wondering how much you all think it would cost for me to trade in the stock Pioneer CD Player which came in the 2005 tC, for the iPod capable cd Player which costs $260. Also, do you think I would just be better off buying an FM transmitter, and if so do you recommend any.

Thanks for the help,
Stephen

IT would cost you the price of the new deck, I seriously doubt they will trade you anything. And I am pretty sure those decks go for more than $260. Stock decks are overly expensive

I am pretty sure that is for the option, so $260 on top of what the stock one cost, since they dont let you keep that one. but I could be wrong. I have just never seen a stock stereo (even a crappy one) go for that cheap. They are more expensive than a good aftermarket most of the time.

Engifneer is right. It is only $260 when the car is new and you trade in the stock HU for the iPod unit. It's an upgrade. It's around $500 to go get it after the time of purchase.

a good pioneer deck = around 250. ipod adapter for pioneer deck = 50. so about 325 (taxes and what not) for cleanest ipod connection, and depending on the deck EQ and feature flexitibility. id pick that up instead of the stock ipod head unit imo. =]

You should look into one of these...

DFTOY

or this one...

PA11TOY

I had the latter for my '05 HU and it rocked! Unfortunately, the price has gone up $20 since I purchased it. I ended up selling it and got an Alpine HU. Anyways, you would get 100x better sound quality as compared to a FM Transmitter for the almost the same price. I would go with one of these because you won't have to worry about finding a station that works if you go out of town. (Like with a FM Transmitter.) I have a DIY for the PA11TOY. If you get one of these (they're pretty much the same install-wise), shoot me a PM. I can help you out.

I swapped out my stock '05 deck for the pioneer DEHP3800mp. I paid like $120 i think. It's a lot nicer than the stock one and sure as hell don't cost no $260-500. (plus it isn't the size of a damn cinder block like the stock one.) Got my ipod adapter for like $25. Aux input has a tiny bit of background fuzz but you gotta have pretty good ears to notice the difference. (having good speakers helps that a lot too though...)

abtelectronics.com (I actually live near the store so I just drove up there). Circuitcity has the deck too i believe. A lot of places were out of stock when I was trying to get it. That thing goes like hotcakes. Got mine like 20 min after they got their backorders in. :D If you want the next step up, there's the dehp4800 for like $170. There's two adapters for the ipod that you can use. PXP02 or the CDRB-10 (and a Left/Right stereo to headphone jack adapter). PXP02 will charge the ipod, CDRB-10 won't but it's like $20 cheaper.
