How to take out side a pillar and molding

Default How to take out side a pillar and molding

I'm getting xm and hiding antenna by putting it in sunroof but I need help taking off a pillar and the rubber molding any pics or tips

To take out he front pillar at windshield in a car without side airbags,just grab it at about 6 inches down from roof and pull out,for a car with side airbags it is a lot harder as it is held by a pin and clip at the same location,same process but battery has to be disconnected and you have to be a lot more carefull.once you get panel a few inches out at top you will see the piece that goes to the clip in pillar and that plastic piece has to be literally torn out of the pillar and a new one replaced. on reassembly,couple of dollars at dealership.

do yourself a favor, and position the antenna where it will be mounted and drive around for 1/2 an hour to make sure your reception is ok, both with the sunroof open and closed.

you'll thank youself later.

Run the wire under the black trim line, no pillar removal necessary and the wire is never visible and perfectly secure.
