Default How to Uninstall the stock Bazooka 10" sub for tC?

Just wondering how to uninstall the factory installed sub. The Bazooka 10" custom fitted box. I have tried almost everything and looked everywhere, I have read once that you must remove the face to sub first but i am a lil cautious about breaking s**t.

You have to pull out the speaker and then there are two nuts inside that you have to remove. I think one is 10mm and the other is 12mm. They're kind of in crappy spots, being inside the enclosure and all... but that's what you do.

There should be like a pull tab or loop at the smaller end (unless the screen was put on wrong last time). But once you pull that off, there are 8 or 10 screws securing the speaker.

Refer to the link below, disregard the whole "putting in a new sub and amp" part. But, it should give you some idea where the bolts are on the inside.

And to get the steel mesh cover off: There should be a small, cloth pull-tab connected to the cover on the side nearest the front of the car. Pull that gently and slowly and the cover should pop out with a little force.

The pull tab should be attached to the inside of that screen. I suppose you could use a screwdriver or something else to pry it out. Should be nice and easy, but you'll have to be careful not to damage it.

After a lot of wedging and manovering i managed to pry it out. There was no screen tab and i messed up the cloth on the screen a little bit. I just used my car key and it worked fine. I just had to wedge it between the cloth on the screen and the holster. Thanks a lot for the info.

I was gonna say: get a buddy and both of you use a screwdrive on each side and manuveur it out.

Hopefully you didn't mess it up too bad.

On a side note, I think some of us should try to mod that cover to allow for replacing with subs (for showing the sub and because some do not fit below it.) We should have it so the cover covers everything except for the circular shape of a 10" subwoofer. AND of course, somehow remove that GOD awful Bazooka emblem on the cover. [New cloth, or no cloth at all, wouldn't hurt.]

Anyone have any ideas? Mod the existing? Fabricate a new one?

Well what i just did was remove the cloth. It was being held on by glue but only on the side of the cover so it was easy to come off. I then used a glue remover called oops!, to get off the glue. Finally i removed the Bazooka emblem by the back. The emblem was melted to the metal but the metal had a hole on the sides of where the emblem should have been. I recommend what i did and just put the emblem back on once removed cause if not it will look like s**t. The cover is a black mesh metal which looks awesome so sport it out.

Also i used a pair of plyers and bent the edges of the metal screen cause they are sharp and would damage the box of the sub. Lastly just make sure you still have that pull string out of the box cause it is hard not having one. LOL.

No. You can still pull out the floor with the speaker installed. That would just be impractical if you had to remove the whole sub to get to the spare. At least, for an OEM setup.
