yep, even after I read all the threads about people cracking theirs. I go and crack mine. I was being so careful too. Anyway is there anyone in the southern california area that could help me take out my LCD after I buy a new HVAC computer. I'll pay whatever. I just dont wanna screw it up. again

 

Welcome to the club. Mine has been broken for over a year since I did that. It's about 400 bucks to buy the HVAC. I figured I'd buy a used one someday from a junked car. I'm obviously not motivated enough to search one out.

junkyards are the best place to find something reasonably priced.

 

On that note. Anybody know of any Scion salvage yards?

 

sometimes you can find one in ebay or car-parts.com

 

I have a screen for $40.00 shipped priority mail ready to go. So if you get your old screen out and through holes cleaned out, then it will drop in place.

 

^^ that 40.00 is a killer deal, very rarely you can find them by itself.. better jump on it quick

 

I went to the salvage yard for mine. I got it for $70.

 

there are places like TAP Recycling that specialize in Toyota/Lexus/Scion

 

Just check in your phonebook for salvage areas.

 

I'de still go for garage's 40.00 shipped, LCD alone takes time to desolder haha it will save you some time

yeah i might be needing another LCD, i brought an extra HVAC here without LCD lol for another color theme project so its easier to swap when im bored lol.. it would be nice if someone is selling it alone

When my buddy did mine he broke the LCD screen too and called Toyota and they wanted upwards of $550 so we searched eBay using terms like control ***** or heater controls and there were a ton. There was even one on there that had the waterfall and whole HVAC unit for $40. You just have to play around with the search phrases because just searching HVAC didn't turn up squat. Good luck.

IDK if you ever get up here to Sac but about ten miles up the road in Rancho on Sunrise there are about 30 or more junkyards with millions of parts....just a thought.....they have literally everything!
