Default HVAC lights going out? Read Further!!!

About two weeks ago, I posted on this site in regards to my HVAC lights going out (not the guages or radio). I have an 07 TC, no mods done, no aftermarket stereo installed, no head unit, no LED swaps, nada. What would start as flickering, would end up going out completely unless i tapped the side of the HVAC unit (this includes controls for A/c, heat, clock backlight, et cetera.) The weird thing was my clock backlight would be on when my headlights were not turned on, however when my headlights were turned on, it would go out, and the rest of the HVAC backlights would not turn on either.
I took it into the dealer, and they advised me they needed to order a part for it. I took my car in today after they called with the new part. They advised me the unit (set up like the ecu plugins would be) behind the HVAC console containing all of the wires for it was malfunctioning, and that he had two other tc's coming in today with the same issue. At this point, he said Toyota is just telling their dealerships to replace the part to get the customer in and out ASAP, and they are then sending the replaced units to Toyota to research the problem.

****Updates pending as I will be in contact with the Head of the Service Department here****

It took the dealer a couple days to get the part in, and it did not cost me anything because mine was under warranty. Not sure how much the part is, sorry.

LOL and it did. Mine went out about a week ago. I took it to the dealer and they ordered the new part. The mechanic said it's over $500 for the part. Man, I'm glad I didn't waste time doing the LED swap.

I'm starting to think so. As of now I know that ONLY '07's have the issue, but more and more It's looking like it's ALL of them.

Seems that way. I went in last Wednesday and they ordered the part, said it should be in tomorrow. Hopefully it gets here tomorrow cuz i'm sick of not being able to see what's going on on my HVAC. LOL

Ew... this is very scary people.... I tell all my 07 customers about this issue now before I swap and keep there stock parts around in case it happens to them as it is the main chip that is crapping out it seems....

I had mine for about 6 months before mine went out. I was scared to do mine too. I'm holding off on it still. Just to make sure it's good.

LOL nice. it took them over a week to get the part in for mine, mainly due to the fact that we got a foot of snow the day after I took it in.
