i need your opinions please help
i have a 06 scion tc and my warranty is up in 1 month. i have this rattle/ticking noise on back of the rightside of the hatch. i've taken in for service multiple times to have it services but the rattle never went away. now for about a week, when i go over some bumpy roads i hear clunks.
toyota finally told the service center to take apart my car and perform every service bulletin that is related to a rattle.
aparently toyota has known about these rattles related to a tc.
the service center said they have to take apart the whole roof, the head liners, and the hatch. they told me they have to spot weld some spots to stiffen the chasy. add cushioning between the panaramic roof, replace some rubber stoppers, lower the hatch lock, etc ,etc.
apparently this is a HUGE work and needs to go to a bodyshop as well.
my only dilema is that yes this might fix a rattle that i can't even hear when the music is on but when off it's very annoying, but the fact of them taking apart my car can cause other problems like leaks or something.
i don't know what to do if i should go with it or don't. i have to make up my mind by monday.
what are your experts opinions on this.
thanx guys

if it leaks...take it back and have it fixed. your warranty protects you from factory defects that occur durring manufacturing. if your dealership messes something else up on your car while doing a warranty repair, they are liable to fix that too. just keep all your paper work and such, and if something does happen, they have to fix it.
for instance...my driverside inner fender came off while driving, i went to the a toyota dealership for a warranty repair. they said that the warranty wouldn't cover it because the inner fender was removed durring the installation of the cold air intake. i then showed them the invoice for the dealership installing the cold air intake, and thus thusly, the dealership had to pay to repair the damage to my car instead of toyota.
