This is just a random post to see if there’s anybody else in ScionLife that feels like I do. Do you ever think of stuff that you wish your Scion had, but isn’t invented yet? For example, different options that don't exist or a better something, or just something crazy that only your car would have. I was driving the other night and I thought that it might be cool for my steering wheel to have dim led lights in it. Or a cup-holder that kept my drink cold. (Mt Dew) Or a voice activated moon roof. Or a digital paintjob.

Do you ever have ideas for options for our cars that don't exist yet? Have you ever caught yourself saying; "Damn, that's a great idea, Toyota should invent that!" Or “I hope this is fixed in next year’s model.” Let’s fix it now. Let’s invent it now.

If this post has a ton of responses to it, I'm going to the boss's boss at Scion and helping the ideas that YOU POST come to life. I’m right with you; I’ve got a ton of ideas too.

Personalization is Scion. Invention should to come to ScionLife. Through us, it can.

I don't want anything crazy, but things like metal interior accents (like the gauge bezel and door switch control panel in aluminum... anyone got a cnc machine?), leather, and halos would be cool options.

 

The other day I met the regional manager of the Midwest region for Scion. He was super cool and he was seeking new ideas for ways to make Scion a better company. The inventor in me took over and I told him that I would put the above post on ScionLife to see what would happen. So basically it is up to us to start a conversation. Please help. If we start a mammoth conversation, they will listen to us to make our ideas become real. Toyota has mad R&D. So do the other accessory companies that Scion deals with. This would be sic! So I'm asking you for your help. What do YOU think?

 

i personally think power seats would have been nice... even though that would drive up the cost... maybe options for different color lighting.. ie gauges and ac controls...

for the manual tc... how about a 6th gear? at 80 mph... your cruzing at like 3800 rpm... why not a sixth gear so at 80 you sitting at like 3 or less...

um.... give me time... i know i will come up with more...

 

I'd like a window tinting that automaticly gets darker in bright light and less dark in dim light (sort of like photochromatic sunglasses). That way the car could be dark during the day for that "cool" look, but still light at night so its safe.

I'd like a set of sensors around the car that tell you when there is a car alongside you in the blind spots.

I'd like the tC to be rear wheel drive, or maybe all wheel drive.

And the piddly stuff that would be nice but isn't exactly innovative: I'd like having the passenger side rear mirror tilt downward when the car is in reverse to make parallel parking easier. I'd like having the paint be more durable. I'd like none of the rattles to be there. I'd like the tires to last longer. I'd like more horsepower. I'd like better mileage. I'd like if the steering wheel column telescoped. I'd like side air bags standard.

And most important of all: I'd like all of that to add nothing to the retail price!

 

thats bad ___, i was thinking of LEDs in my steering wheel too, maybe a shiftlight or something

 

You wanna know if I have ideas, well all I can say is I'm glad you asked. These are all ideas for the tC.

HID headlights - they are safer cause they are brighter

Led Taillights - a better design the the TYC crap

More interior storage space, something like holders where the driver and passenger arm rests are - Everyone likes space

Factory Lighted Door Stills - Something like the upgraded doorstills but the tC emblem lights up when the doors are open and when the headlights are on

An upgradeable Wiring harness - So those of us with an O5 can get the cool stuff that will change with the upcomming models of c's (personally I want steering wheel controls but the wireing harness discourages that)

More headroom in the backseat - I know that its a coupe and that there isn't much that can be done in this department but I asked someone and this was their response.

We could choose the color or colors of interior dash lights - amber is cool but sometimes I just dont feel like amber, Ya know? Maby do a color combination kinda thing.

Some sound proofing or possibly more in the doors and floor - I do realise that this would drive up costs. Hey, but you asked.

I'd like to add that the engineers that have produced and designed the tC, they did a great job. These are just Ideas that can and will improve the car. These should also be options just like all the other options that are currently available under modifying the car currently. I also realize that all of suggestions will drive up production costs. I know that it really isn't the Scion thing but these are just ideas. Who knows, they might even take into consideration one of my ideas. All I want is acknoldgement and maby some freebies :LOL:

 

What about a deal with Katzkin to have those as factory options?

 

SF2K4- That is the plan! To generate enough comments and energy in this post that Scion looks at the creativity that we all share and agrees to help these ideas, options and other companies become available to be factory installed! You are right on the money.

 

I can put woodgrain in your tC....or marble..or burlwood

 

-change the seat fabric or something so i dont electricute myself everytime i get out of the car. i have to brace for the static shock EVERY time...it gets annoying

-more metal interior accents...the interior looks crappy with only one little section a color other than black

-color changing gauges would deffinately be cool. i believe the new mustangs have them

-have the moonroof have the one-touch close feature...or just make it so it doesnt stop when its just about closed

-better paint job

 

I'm wondering if this should be in the Dear Scion Catagory.

 

I don’t know about the dear Scion category...I do like it randomly placed though; it adds a sense of mystique and stuff! I totally dig all of your comments, keep ‘em flowing! They should (and will) be talked about in front of Scion!

This post came from a conversation that I had with the manager of the Midwest Region. He and I both wanted to see what would happen in this post and if this kind of topic was popular to talk about.

I love the idea of heated mirrors!

 

Heated / Cooled Seats like in the benz but i think thats more luxiory then practical but the electrial controls for the seats is a must.. i get anoyed a lot of times by how the driver side seat adjustment is, a lot of times i end up moving the seat up then using the correct handle.

 

about the colored gauges... i think they scion light enhancement should include gauges, under dash, under seat, and all 4 cupholders lit.

definatly a leather option would be sweet

maybe navigation option for headunit

headrest screens like in the RS3 xB

shorter antenna

an exhaust that actually puts out hp gains

thats all i can think of right now

 

it's a greatly engineered car. but here are some of my ideas...

- tune the tc to a higher redline.
- race inspired pedals and shiftknob standard
- rear wiper option
- 6th gear
- 2nd light for the trunk
- horn beeps when you remote lock it (great for locating your car in a packed parking lot)
- higher quality paint job (tired of paint chips from highway road debris or runaway shopping carts hitting the bumper)
- no more rattles
- cabin temperature display
- compass

the cubby hole to be a single din size space...
some kind of a built in pillow (for the folded down seat-thing...)
projectors.....hids are safer...
less wheel gap...the trds should have been standard.
a tip-tronic shifter for people with autos....
(like the is300s)
maybe have the battery in the trunk...
