also, for people who think that the 4 seconds it is lit up before you start your car are worthless, then you dont have to worry about it, and shouldnt be here in the first place.

but for people who might want to change their key ring color, but dont know a whole lot about taking apart steering wheel columns and what not might need a DIY guide, or even just a link to some handy diagrams or something.

I didn't see if this was answered, but does JUST the plastic ring part come off? Like, just pop it with a screw driver? I haven't looked at it, but what about using some of that film stuff you guys use to do different colored guages and just stick it in there?...

it's a bit more complicated than that... gotta take out the whole assembly from what i can see.

but hey.. covering it up with vinyl.... that's definitely possible.. and you can just put it on the outside.. no hassles at all.

 

It can't be that hard... I don't have any of the film on me (not ready to do my guage lights yet) but I'd think just mask of the area INSIDE the key ring, apply flim to the outside edge and over the top of the ring, cut around inside of ring, and remove the masking. Sounds simple enough... I just ordered some LEDs from Garage1217... If I'd seen this like 20 minutes earlier I would've totally bought some film and at least tried it... oh well
