I'd recommend the Pioneer AVIC D2 or D3. I have the D2 personally and couldn't be happier.

not noticeable by the cops?? whats that mean?

lots of options.... Pioneer, Alpine, Eclipse, and a bunch of others....

like nauticac said, avic-d2 and d3 are pretty sweet. Some issues with the d3 only having one drive making it a mediocre nav. Still great for the price though

others to look up

Alpine IVA-w200 and the new IVA-w205

Everyone is going to have their own opinion so i'd say go to your electronics store (best buy, circuit city or what not) and try out everything the units have. If you're looking for an Ipod compatible unit, have the salesperson hook up an Ipod to it so you can see if you like the interface or not....hope this helps

i have the d2, and no problems iwth the the unit itself... i just wish the nav was a little more up to date. like... my parents address isnt in there, and the house is like 4 years old.

because cops trying to bust people for having screens open and what not, when we went to HIN chicago my buddy who was driving would close it when we were in town or would see cops since it's illegal to have vid's playing while driving. and with it being a doubl din it would just bascially be more hidden in it. plus would be able to class that flat as well to hide it.

ya very easy...you just have to redrill the holes in the mounting bracket so it sits a few mm further back for the door to shut fully.

crutchfield. if you go pioneer or sony you can get the PAC SWI-PS. i know theres one for alpine, just not too sure which one. and if you go eclipse then you can just plug in the deck and be able to use the steering wheel remote.

How about a Clarion MAX675VD?
Never heard or used it but CNet gave the Avic D3 a 6.3 out of 10, and gave the clarion an Editor's Choice as well as a score of 8.6

it is only illegal to have video's playing while the car is in motion. legally in car video/dvd/tv players can't play video if the parking brake isn't up, but alot of people disable that. the exception is ofcourse incar navigation systems. do you see cops pulling over people with tomtom's, garmin and magellians? no. if your car also have a touch screen interface, that is legal too.

the real idiots are those douchebags with portable dvd players plugged into their cigarette lighters sitting on their dashboards. i HATE those idiots so much.
