Default Infinity or JBL

I've decided to sell my JL subs + amp and go for an all Infity or JBL setup...This is including components up front.

I get a good discount off all Harmon equipment through work if you're wondering why Ive narrowed it down to both. I'm thinking a complete JBL setup..one 4 channel from components and rears and 1 mono amp for 2 subs..
Just wondering what anybody's input on both companies and if you prefer one over the other.

what kind of JL stuff you got.. and how much you want for all of it... i could prolly get rid of it out here for you REAL quick...

i would personally lean on the JBL stuff a little more... even though the kappa stuff is nice... i like the JBL a little better...

I have a JL 500/1 amp and 2 12W3v2s..if you want it I can set it up on Ebay so it'll be legit. I'll sell the subs for 160 shipped each. The amp I'll sell for 250 shpped. If you have other offers let me know and I'll see if I can do.

Its basically the same stuff (JBL & Infinity)...they are all made by Harman Kardon http://www.harman.com/about/index.jsp. Think of it this way, its like asking which is better?...a toyota or a scion?

you just need to see which ones you like better

The only reason I know this is because I work at Circuit City, we have a rep. that comes in our store and trains us about Infinity and Harman Kardon, then he goes over to Best Buy and trains them about JBL stuff.

I have an entire JBL setup and it is amazing. 2 GTi 6.5 components, 10"GTi sub, 1 BPx 1100.1, and a Px 300.4. Crystal clear sound and amazing bass. I have a custom installed system with led's and stuff so I love how the JBL amps have a clear window to see into the internal.... they light up real well with the red led's.

i get the same discount and i personally would not go an all infinity or jbl setup. you might save a alot of money but there are better things out there for the money like elemental designs for components. but the only thing i would actually buy with the discount are the JBL GTi subs and their amps otherwise its a waste. It doesnt make any sense to downgrade from JL to harman car audio

I have to agree ^ with that. This wasn't the case "back in the day", but has been for several years now. I too would recommend keeping your JLA amp & subs.

I had the kappa perfect components in my old car. I was not impressed for the money. I love Harmon home audio but car audio is bad. I also had their Kappa components and they came with a cold solder joint on the woofer, so it would cut out. Then I had a basslink and that crapped out twice, I only repaired it once. The quality is not up to par.

i work at circuit city as a car audio installer.. and my buddy i hooked up his ride with all kappa perferct speakers and the biggest infinity amps..... 96 cadillac el dorado. that was one of the cleanest and hard hittings subs i've heard in a local area. 6 1/2 kappa perfect componenets f#%#$n rock with the infinity 4ch amp. 110wattsx4 RMS ! and there 1200 watt class D amp is ohm stable... with two 12 kappa perfect subs @ 1ohm awsome..... but.... yeah.. there is better ____ out there..... but twice the price of my buddies setup ;)

^^^ that's for sure!!! especially when it comes to pro audio (PA systems for concerts and loudspeakers)...

Juicy: I still suggest building a ported box and upping the watts those w3's are getting....you'll not be disappointed!!!!

K let's see I'm kinda wishy washy and I've posted up my JL 500/1 amp and my old Pioneer DEH-7700MP head unit on Ebay. With that extra money I plan to buy 2 13KV.2 subs by ED. I was planning to go for the Ov.2's but Im' buying the custom box from quarterwavdesigns so the mounting depth on the Kv.2 is easier to work with.

Can someone please tell me teh difference between the K subs and the O subs. Is there a big sacrifice in SPL or SQ between teh 2?

Also I'll be pushing a 1 oh m load and going to be overpowering the subs with the 1200 watts..but its going to be in a sealed enclsoure....

Your Kv's will be gone in a matter of months if you plan on pushing 1200 watts rms. If you plan on pushing that much power you should go with the Ov's. Ov's are rated at 600 rms each for a total of 1200 rms for 2. Feeding 1200 watts rms to 2 Ov's is perfect.

^^ the Kv.2's will handle the 1200 RMS, especially in a sealed enclosure...

Juice: as long as you use the power wisely and don't play extended test tones(sine waves will kill an overpowered sub), and keep your gains set properly so the subs don't distort, you should be fine... I'm pushing 632watts on my eD Eu-700 pair (150RMS each) but I know the limits of the subs with my enclosure...

Yeah tahts what I was thining..the max on the ED site says 500 watts per sub...but another 100 watts in a sealed enclosure should be fine if properly set..thanks for the confirmatioin TC_GUY.

Do you know if the gains on the ED amp are set the same as JL amps with the voltmeter and what not?

Should I get the 2 of the dual 2 ohms and go for 900 watts? How big a difference between 1200 vs 900 spl wise. Just seeing if I should play it safe and push 450 to each.!

ProjectD: I can't get the Ov.2s anymore because of the mounting depth..I'm getting a custom enclosure in which only the KV.2s will fit. I'm just wondering what the difference between the two would be and if there is a considerable dfifference.

900 or 1200 won't make a huge difference... maybe +1or2 dB for the 1200....

Oh, and the 250-500 range on the Kv2's is the RMS range... which means they'd handle 1200 watts like a pro...
