Default Installing new head unit?

I had a jvc head unit installed by best buy a while ago. My question is if I buy a different sony head unit can I use the install kit from my current head unit? And are there any posts that show a DYI so i can save the ridiculous install price that nest buy would charge (even though it should be free with purchase IMO )

ok say you start with a single din unit, then yes most any other single din would work w/ the install kit.. Or you start with a double din, most double din's usually dont need a kit as they bolt right in. hope that answers your question

It should work. Just the metal bracket that the headunit comes with should change.

If diy next time, pay attention to the wiring job. You'll be able to see how it's wired and wether they did a good job or not (If they used electrical tape or actual wire crimping sleeves)

you can cut the wiring harness from your jvc and use that again for the Sony.
