iPhone connection
I just got an iPhone and I connected it to my tC and I wondered if there was any issues with this because it comes up and says something about unknown hardware, etc. I can't remember exactly. Anyone have an iPhone and seen this? Is it ok to connect it to your Scion?!?
Thanks!
Thanks!

i have my iphone plugged into an installed auxilary port in my 05 tc and it works fine. keep in mind that the iphone has a recessed earphone input so you need an extra adapter for any 3rd party input besides apple.
radio shack should sell this component, i have the Belkin headphone adapter and it was $10

yeah i was wondering about how the iphone works when it plugged into the car too. i dont know if theres a difference between older and newer scion's but i have an 08 tC and it has an ipod plug in. my question is... if you have an iphone plugged into the car and a call comes in, what happens?

Well I had it plugged in once through the dock port and I had a text come through and my speakers got quiet for a second, kinda like when you have headphones in. I'm not sure about a call. Is there anything wrong with connecting the iPhone through the dock port like a regular iPod?

fyi...
From what I've been told, the iphone(itouch) connection will NOT work. I sold a tC last week and my customers iPhone crashed. Customer relations called Scion and was told that Toyota is TWO years out on a fix. I've had 3 customers that cannot successfully dock their iphones.
Btw, one was successful but after two days the connection never established again, fwiw...

You can not dock an iPhone... Only generations 2-4 iPods will work. The 5th generation and iPhone are not compatible with the system... You can hook it through an AUX port (just the standard headphone jack) but that's it. You can not control it with your HU

I dont have the ipod upgrade in my tC, so i just use the AUX port. works just fine. and when a call comes in, all it doesn is silence the music so you can hear your phone. same if its on vibrate. so if you dont want your music getting interupted, just put your phone on airplane mode. i havent noticed any problems.
btw, the iphone has a special 3.5mm jack. so just a regular cable wont work. you need one with one of the ends being 3.5 mm

To clear up what I was talking about, I was saying that the iPod connector that allows you to connect it to the head unit and control it from the head unit shouldn't work with iPhone. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I had tested it and read that it isn't. I'm not talking about the AUX connection that just shoots the audio to the unit

um ALL OF YOU FAIL.
iphone works fine to be controlled from the HU
here is the trick
PLUG IT INTO THE DOCK CONNECTOR TWO TIMES
Connect it once, dismiss the little text that pops up.
UNPLUG and plug it in again.
this will toss it into IPOD mode and it should say
"accesory attached" or something similar.
After that your good to go.
the HU does not support calls etc. so dont expect anything fancy.
Same method always works if you have HU control disabled,
you can even get movies your playing to output their audio thru the speakers.

16GB iPhone (latest firmware) definitely works fine with dock connector on 2008 xB with base HU.
You don't need to plug it in twice. Just once, and it will ask you whether you want to go into airplane mode. I generally say no, as I have a bluetooth earpiece. When a call comes in, it mutes the audio so I can take the call normally.
Caveat - you can't access podcasts, so I put them into smart playlists. I require playcount to be 0, so each track should be deleted from the playlist after I play it. The thing is, the iPHone does this so fast, the Scion gets all confused. It takes out the playlist, but when I go to the next playlist, it shows the content for the deleted playlist. Each playlist after the empty one shows the content for the playlist before it. and I can't get to the content in the last playlist without navigating by album or artist.
Also, it automatically places the device in Repeat All mode, which i hate. and it ignores me when I press the Shuffle (random) button.

old firmware iphone, think im still on 1.12 or wtvr. and the pioneer premium radio work fine, just have to click no everytime you dock it in so that it wont enable airplane mode. or turn it on if you dont care about calls or texts, and it does get quiet for a second with calls and texts coming in. other than that it works pretty good for me though
