I have a Kicker 15" L7 square sub that I want to install in my tC.

I was looking for everyones opinions on how to install it. I was thinking of taking out the spare tire and fiberglassing it into the well. Not totally sure though, kinda stumped and really want it in the car this winter.

Any help is much appreciated.

what is your goal? Performance, space saving or best look to show with...

 

Probably should have said that, lol, I'm looking for something to show with and get bass out of.

 

I would build a simple ported enclosure with a tuned port

 

will require alot of airspace to run correctly, a minimum of 3 cu. ft. for a ported enclosure. it will eat up you trunk if done correctly

Why 15"? That's to big. I'm running a 12" L7 with hifonics and that sh*t hits hard. Takes up less space than a 15"......

 

ive got a l7 12" too, hits nice on a kicker zx500.1, but seriously eats my trunk in a probox

 

yes but you can reduce it a bit if you tune the ports correctly and it will absolutely kill...
the sealed set up for these speakers doesn't do them justice... you can spend less money to get that performance

I don't care about saving space at all, like I said I want something that is show worthy and hits pretty hard. I go to a lot of car shows and want a nice trunk setup.

I already have the sub sitting in my garage just need some kind of ideas of how to set it up and make it look and sound good.

 

If you want it to hit real hard go with a ported box. I would also say go with removing the spare and using that space to increase the available air space you have for the box. are you gonna build the box yourself? if so here is a link to some of the calculations needed for doing a ported box.

Yeah..but then it'll be peaky as hell.

l7's usually want bigger than advertised. That 15 is gonna need about 5 cubes after port and sub displacement to shine.

Hahahaha, I would have to fiberglass up the whole trunk to put this damn thing in, lol... Maybe I will just put 2 12's in, it will be a hell of alot easier to install and make a nice show setup.

2 12's would need just as much space as 1 15

Add to the fact that the l7 sounds like complete ____ in a sealed box.

 

there was some dude that actually had a sub or 2 fiberglassed into his hatch....dont ask me how the hell he did it but it was crazy that type of stuff would get u placing in shows

 

^^at one point there was a youtube vid of a guy with a tc that completely fiberglassed it with 10-8" subs.

 

o was that what it was...it was awhile ago when i saw it but i know it was nutty and nothin ive ever seen before expecially in a tc

 

yea; sucks because i wanted to see it to show a buddy of mine and i can't find it anymore; granted it was far from finished (wasn't sanded well at all, no paint and wires galore showing since some were downfiring into the fiberglass and others upfiring)
