Kicker subwoofer question...Help needed please!
I want to get some subs for my tc but i am not sure if the one i am looking at is going to fit. I have tried my best to measure it out but it looks like it is goin to be so close i need to ask if anyone knows if it will fit. I want to get the Kicker dual 12" CVR set up in the kicker box (05DCVR122). the dimensions are 32 3/8" wide 16" High and 17 3/8 deep. Will the edge of the box hit the trunk when i try to close it or will it fit? If anyone can help please help.
i tried that but it seems so close i wanted a second opinion. It seems so close i dont want to buy it and then have problems installing it. The way the box is set up if i turned it so it was facing the seat it would fit fine becuase it is slanted on the back. Would the bass sound good if it was pointing towards and like right up againsed the back seats. Or should i get a sealed box instead of the kicker factory ported box so it fits and will still be facing out?
i cant answer you TC Fitment problem.... but i'm selling the same set up you are looking at buying with a kicker amp, just thought you might want to check it out.... look it up in the classifieds section here on scionlife

not really i listen to alot of alternative/rock and electronic music and it sounds great... you just need the right amp with the right amount of RMS WATTS dont go by MAX WATTS... alot of people end up putting together a horrible sound system because the follow the MAX WATTS

yeah i run a single CVR12 in my set up powered with an 400w Audiobahn (ya ya.. i know.. dont worry itll be JL soon
) and it sounds awesome ( i listen to all diffrent types of music, but mainly hip-hop).
personally, if you power it correctly, you can get away with one single 12 and be really really content. I love having the bass feel, but it comes to the point where i have to put my bass down cause it floods over all the rest of the speakers, so one is well enough for our small cars imo.
since you listen to alternative/rock and electronic, you might would want to go with sealed, since sealed enclosures are more prefered for tighter, more accurate bass than being loud. having a tighter sound will make you feel that kick in a song better.
i say one is well than enough, just power it well and tune it, and you won't be disappointed

is the sound difference between a sealed sub box and a ported sub box that much of a difference. i listen to mostly hip hop and rap so i just want loud bump. If i were to get a sealed box with subs how much different would it be. I was thingking now to get a pair of 10 inch l5 subs or 10" l7 subs in a sealed box because they would definitly fit in my trunk. Will these be as loud louder or quieter than like cvrs in a ported box?
i have a 15 inch kicker L7 which u can see in my pic.. the box is custom made but goes from 17 tall inside to 12 out the hatch 20 deep and 39 wide.. u should have no fitment problems.. mine closes and i can still flip the seats up with room to recline them.. but i keep em down to show off my beasts =).. i can send u pics of my box if u want or how snug it fits if ud like.. just lemme know

since you listen to hip hop, any three boxes will be fine (sealed, ported, bandpass). i have a sealed and i can set off car alarms already, only pushing 400w. for comparatively speaking, i compared my sub (CVR12 in a sealed) vs. my friends sub (I think it was a JLw7 10" in a bandpass box) using the same amp set up and the same song. and my 12 kicked just as hard as the jl and mine had tighter bass. so when it comes down to box, it all comes to personal preference. the most accurate is the sealed, the bandpass is the loudest, and a ported is kinda right in the middle.
about using the solobarics vs the cvrs. i have to say if you're getting the L5s, FULL HEARTEDLY DEPENDING ON HOW YOU POWER THEM, the cvrs will prolly be your best bet since they are relatively close to power specs. however, you use the RMS from the L7s, they most likely will hit harder than the CVRS, because you are able to run more power into them.
and again, i have one cvr12 sub and i listen to alot of hip hop. its only 400watts but man is it enough..lol
i have found a nice ported sub box for 12 inch l5 subs so i think i am going to get 2 12" l5 subs and put them in the ported box. I am going to run a 1200w X 1 @1ohms to them becuase the rms on 2 12" l5s is 1200 and in a ported box it will be a little bit less. I expect this system will be real real loud. If i am missin sumthing please tell be but i think thsi setup will be awesome and probably blow away my original idea of gettin 2 12" cvr subs in a ported box the box i wanna get it here http://sonicelectronix.com/item_3307.html and like i said 2 12" l5 subs and a hifonics Bxi1205 amp.
**edit**
i actually will not be getting that ported box becuase i just read the revies and everyone said it made the ubs sound like crap. they all said a sealed box would be a much better choice so i think i am just going to get a sealed box for those subs. The one review the guy had the same exact setup as i was going to have and he said it was horrible so i guess i will go with a sealed box. Will it still be real loud? I understand it will be a tighter bass but will it still be real loud i want to feel the bass and i want my car to really be bumpin.

another q i got is there anythread or anything that basically walks you through the install of a subwoofer. I am sure i will be able to find things on like the kicker website about wiring the subs to the amp but i am probably going to need help finding how to wire the power and ground wires to the amp and how to actually get the rca cables to the back of the headunit and how to actually get the headunit out to plug the things in. I know i need a loc and does this jut basically plug in between the rca cables and the head unit. If anyone could help me figure out how to wire the cables through the car and such or help me find a thread or sumthing that would help that would be great.
Find a post by mandos. In his sig there's a link to a complete guide to gutting a tC, something you're going to have to do if you're going to make the install clean.

Just search for a lot of it. Stuff like grounding is easily done, but needs to be done right to avoid extra noise in your system.
As for getting the RCAs to the back of the unit, I plan on following where the stock speaker wires are going, and go that route.
