Default knowledgeable wiring help. tc

Hey guys,
So I'm getting a new speaker system for my 05 tc for christmas and I'm really excited. I am going to wire it all up myself, and I have enough friends with experience to make it possible, but I need some help from you guys first.

Here are my questions:
-What guage wire do I need to buy (i know its different so if you can be thorough for each application thatd be great)
-how do I attach power wire to my battery and how do I run that wire though my engine compartment to make it look nice.
-what fuse do I use for my power wire
-what type of RCA's and how many do I need to run from the headunit (I have 1 preamp output)
-What do I do about the current wiring coming from the headunit? Do I need to disconnect the speakers that I am amping?
-My biggest request is if anyone can draw me some kind of schematic or just tell me in words maybe of how to connect everything. (I am mostly confused with my crossovers)

Here is all my gear and some information
-Aiwa CDC-X304 headunit (1 preamp output)
-eDi 6000s Components
-NINe.4 amp
-single 13Kv.2 Subwoofer
-wedge enclosure sealed

If anyone can answer just one of these questions for me it would be great and get me on my way. If you feel very very generous a simple schematic of how I should wire it would be the most valuable to me, but if not just any sort of help would be great. If you need more details let me know.

Thank you very much

Where to start? Well, Mandos is the man that has a walk thru n how to gut your tC. I suggest you start by reading this thread and comming back with more questions.

Also, there are kits out there that sell the wire, terminals, distribution, power caps,, etc all in one kit.....and the show you how to connect the parts up. Stinger makes a nice kit. Search ebay or bestbuy has tsunami packages.

This one has a cap.

Hey thanks for the reply. I knew i forgot to put something in my first post. I meant to say that I have read Mandos walk through. I wish he would have included how he ran the power wire once he got it through the firewall though!

About the wiring kit... I most definitely will buy a kit that includes everything, but again i'm unsure about what guage and also because I only have 1 preamp output i'm unsure how to run my RCA's.

Well, after pulling the power thru the boot in the firewall, follow the door track, behind the rear panels and back into the rear hatch area. You will need to remove the back seat and rear panels. Relax... it's really a piece of cake to do. These cars are great like that.

The preamp out RCA is what you will feed to your amp to drive the sub(s).

how about the other side of the firewall? My power wire goes directly to the positive side of my battery right? How would I do that and make it look good and be safe.

Can someone tell me how to wire my RCA's to my amp. I have 1 preamp output..what do I need in RCA's? single plug from preamp that splits into two and then what goes on the end of those two ends?

Under the dash, to the left of the steering wheel linkage, look up and you will see the black boot with wires going thru it out to the engine bay. Look in the engine bay and you will find the engine side of the same boot. When you find that side, you will also see some rubber nipples. Clip one of these and feed thru. When pulling it thru, it helps to spray a little wd40 on the wire insulation before you pull it. Just the first 6 inches or so. Slides much easier.

Well, since you have one preamp, just feed that with a simple RCA cable to your amp. If you are running 2 subs....you will wire them into your amp however it's setup.

Okay thanks you are helping a lot. I'm pretty much trying to figure it all out so I make sure I'm prepared when I go to install it. (plus I have time to kill before christmas). I'm running just 1 sub. Will I only need 1 RCA cable (from preamp to amp).

Yup, 1 rca cable will do the trick.

Bah...I should have labeled the power wire running better

In through the firewall:
http://www.icixsound.com/vb/icixnati...ges/83_133.jpg

Up above the cluth/brake assemblies:

http://www.icixsound.com/vb/icixnati...ges/83_132.jpg

Then down the drivers side of the car:
http://www.icixsound.com/vb/icixnati...ges/83_129.jpg

You can see the wire as the blue line that goes under the cross beams for the floor. The holes on the edges are perfect...for 2 runs of 0 awg

Actually, that thread is much better with pictures. After the wire gets to the back seat, I just ran it behind the side panel, pretty obvious once the panel is off what to do

about the RCA's, You'll need to run a pair of RCA cables from the back of the HU (left and right) to the back of the car on the opposite side from the power wire(ex. if the power wire is ran down the drivers side, run the RCA's on the pass side)....this will keep the power wire from interfering with the signal going to the amp.... you'll also need 2 RCA Y-splitters to connect to the ends of the cable you ran and then to the amp... the Y cables are single female input and double male output.... then You'll want to run the front 2 channels on HP or No Pass for the components, then the rear channels in LP bridged to the sub...

You need to run the speaker wire from the front Left and Right channels of the amp to the component system crossover boxes(one for the left one for the right) where it says "input"....then connect the woofer(mid) to the "woofer" output on the crossover with a seperate strand of speaker wire, and another from the tweeter to the "tweeter" output on the x-over.... make sure all the "+" go to the "+" and the "-" to the "-" from the amp to the crossovers and from the crossovers to the speakers....

Get some white lithium grease in a spray can and use it to lube the wires and pull them through the door jamb in the rubber boot....using a coat hanger to attach the wire to and guide through the boot is the best way to do it...

Just to clarify, You won't be re-using the factory wire that the speakers are hooked up to now....you'll be running all new wire....leave the factory wiring as it is in case you want to take your stereo out....just add in new wire from the amp to crossovers and run new wire to the speakers through the door jamb boot

alright so leaving the factory wire out and still connected to the radio will not effect me at all right?
