LED gauge cluster not lighting up
I am in the process of swapping out the LEDs. I swapped out the top 3 leds on the speedometer gauge and when I went to test it, all the gauge face LEDs do not light up for all 3 faces. it also turns off the LED in the ODOmeter , the radio LCD, and the HVAC LCD when I turn on my lights. They all turn back on when I turn off my lights. It is a very weird issue. I unplugged the gauge cluster when the battery connected. Anyway to fix this?
Well, the HVAC sounds just like the typical failure with the 07 hvac modules... what year is yours?
However, check your dimmer **** before you go too far. That has gotten plenty of people before
If that isnt it, check to be sure you did not create a short when you swapped those leds. If you somehow created a solder chunk that fell and shorted the positive supply to ground, it would keep all of the gauges from lighting.

I would say dimmer ****
The 07 hvac issue would not kill the gauges. I have one of those stupid 07 units here that I think a customer pawned off on me, but I took care of him anyways. The controller goes nuts in them. Nothing that is fixable

Yeah, the hvac issue wont fix the gauges not lighting up by any means. Funny though, the hvac issues doesnt sound like it is just the dimmer being down either, but I may be reading his description wrong.
I really wish I had some time, an 07 tC with the issue and an O-scope (I really need to get one again.. sold my old one a few years ago since it was an older model) to sit down and figure out the 07 issue.

hey thanks guys. it was the dimmer ****. haha... how i see how it got some other ppl doing the swap.
also, howd you guys desolder the really small LEDs on the radio? just use a very fine tweezer like soldering tip?

small soldering tip and tweezers is it.
Glad it was just the ****, it has gotten many people!
But you know guys.. thinking about this gives me a clue of what may be going on with the 07's.
Someone with a working 07 let me know something just to be sure (since I dont drive an 07)... When you drive with the lights off, the LCD is lit, although possibly dimmer than with the headlights on, correct?
