I'm looking to buy a red and black carbon fiber dash kit but I would really like to see one installed before I spend the money on it. I want the red to be really dark and I'm not sure their "color chart" portrays that well...

I think it's a pretty good-looking kit, at least the one straight from Scion. The hatch piece is actually included with it, as are the little quadrants that fill up the Scion emblems to make it all look clean. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the big emblem painted on the radio door piece, it doesn't quite look official. Maybe it's the pictures. Speaking of which, does anyone have pictures of the door pieces?

there is no such thing as silver carbon fiber. you bought a fiberglass dash kit and got ripped if it was sold to you as a carbon fiber kit. and future buyers need to be aware of this there is no such thing as silver carbon fiber they weave aluminum into fiberglass and it is inexpensive also with a nationwide shortage on carbon fiber I am worried that alot of so called carbon fiber kits are made from black fiber glass twill once you are done with it you cannot tell the diffrence between it and carbon fiber without breaking it or burning it and most manufacturers knw your not going to do that. the price of carbon fiber has gone through the roof so I am skeptical of alot of kits and here is a link proving hat your aluminized carbon fiber is really fiberglass sorry to break the news to you. http://www.fibreglast.com/showproduc...glass-132.html

Sorry to burst your bubble, but yes there is. You can color carbon fiber in many different ways, it all depends on what you weave in it.

Now obviously that dash kit isn't real CF, but take a look at MotorFX, they offer quite a few CF goodies, which are real, and can be made in different colors.

but even though it is fiberglass I do like it and wish I could get it for my Xa cheaply it would go nice with the flint mica I might do my own hood and interior soon i used to repair sail boats. I am thinking of starting to play around with fiberglass again.

yes I know kai the manager at motorfx very well and they are one of the very reputable manufacturers of carbon fiber pieces but my statement was purely about this aluminized fiberglass that somone passed off as carbon fiber. and if you start changing colors in carbon fiber even with motorfx you better plan on opening your wallet bigtime. and there are companies that pass off black fiberglass twill as carbon fiber this has been going on for along time and nobody has said a word about it. not all companies do it but there are some and I am sorry if I let the cat out of the bag but people need to know what to llok for and be informed buyers thats the whole purpose of scionlife so your not bursting any bubble somone else should have posted this along time ago.
