Default Looking to make a DIY Cubby Panel...

As the title states I am going to try and make a Step-By-Step Write Up on how to make your own TC cubby panel, with a printable template. I cannot justify spending money on something that would be so easy to make myself...

My intent is to save myself, and perhaps a few other people, the cost of the item, the cost of shipping, and the time waiting for the item to arrive.

My question is, can anyone who already has a panel for the cubby hole take some measurements? It'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Alex

I thought so! I searched all over the web to try and find one to no avail. Seems most people are too selfish.

I will go take some measurements on my wife's car now that she's home.

I can't even find a place that still sells them. I want just a plain acrylic one or one with the LA dodgers logo etched

If you can find it, please shoot me some dimensions. I feel that the community could really benefit from a solid write-up on how to make one yourself.

I made mine. All i did was take off the wterfall console and trace the open space onto a piece of abs plastic. Then i cut it out with a dremel and cleaned up the edges. No measurements needed.

Is the cubby panel simply pressed into place as a door?

Or is there a hinge?

Can a press and release type hinge be used?

Or rails to pull the panel up and open?

Airplane Hobby sites are filled with small nylon hinges, pivot points, horns, latches that could work.

It actually just pushes into place held by tension. My plastic is approx 3mm. Just take off the waterfall and trace the gap.

As for trying to make it a door that swings open the answer is no. The cig lighter is taller towards the front.

I made a template out of cardboard first, then I bought a small sheet of plexi from Lowe's 1.98 or something. Cut with dremel, profit.

Make the part that swings over the lighter from a soft rubber that gives way.

Then one can have a hinged cubby cover
