I checked to make sure this was not answered in the iPod Sticky before posting here, and I have yet to see this question, so here goes:

Just bought myself a '10 TC which comes with an iPod connector in the center console. Now, I asked the dealer if you could get one that will plug into a USB and he said he had "no idea".

Is this possible? I want to get an MP3 player, but I was pretty set on getting a Zune over an iPod. There is an extension piece that plugs into the console power that has the iPod head on it, and I'm wondering if it's possible to get one with a USB head on it instead. Anyone know?

If I have to, i'll just buy an iPod, but ugh, I really hate the idea of contributing to Steve Jobs.

 

You can use the Aux port, which is basically like using the car speakers as headphones, but that sucks. The iPod harness is iPod only.

The iPod is miles better than the Zune anyway.

Not possible. You'd have to use the regular aux port - and then you wouldn't be able to control it via the head unit. You'd still have to control it via the device.
