Default My air ain't so fresh.

Question. I usually have my air come in from the outside of the car. But sometimes if I have the AC on on or anything that would force me to turn Recirc on, The air ALWAYS smells for like 2 min. It smells terrible, almost as if I were to taste metal in the air (if i could taste air) But the smell from the ducts will go away after like 2 minutes of the air blowing. same happens when I turn it from Recirc to Open, it'll smell for 2 minutes then go away. Anyone got any idea why it smells like butt for those 2 minutes? It's weird. It won't smell if I just turn it on or anything like that. only when I switch the air.

take soem Dawn dish soap and vinager and rinse down your condensor coils......probably dirty........not sure where the coil is 100% but it might be accessable from the glovebox area if not then perhaps from below........

the water drain may be plugged and you are gettign a mold blowing through................

I dont know if they ever work, but Im watching* for one! I never turn on my recirculate unless my ac is on. It hasnt been hot enough in my area where Id need ac though.

I noticed that when I added an in-cabin air filter (the tC doesn't come with one Standard), the smell went away a bit.

Yea you are right, when I worked at the dealership as a technician, I noticed all the tC doesn't come with Cabin Air Filter which i found that odd.

I talked to the service manager and told him about it but he said because it cannot be retro fit... which i don't understand why

So I checked my tC and decided to get cabin air filter from autozone and bam, it fits.
