My First Fiberglass Project
#6
Looks good, nice job. My only question and don't take this the wrong way. Since you did fiberglass and it can be molded any reason why you did not try to keep your trunk space? Usually, you would try to mold it along a side. Nice job none-the-less

I know its big, im just tring to get some experince. I couldnt make it any smaller with the amp rack in that position, it wouldnt look right. if i built that exact box again i would mount the amp on the back of the box so i could make it smaller. this design is really for multiple subs. next month im getting some real subs and im going to make a more pratical box so that i can use my trunk. I've been thinking about getting into making enclousers so i finaly did one and i like how it came out. Im going to be doing a couple more for some friends at work and after that I would like to offer my services to anyone in the Tampa Bay area. I will post pics of my next few projects for everyone to see

BIGRKtC Happy Birthday. The best way to buy materials, is go to a boat shop and ask them for 1 yrd by 1 yrd fiberglass (should cost you about 30 bucks)
then go and get Resin (X2 = 15)
then the fleece should cost you no more then 5 bucks and the wooden pilings (to hold the sub run) 1 dollar
MDF for the ring about 3 bucks (At home depot ask for the clearence stuff)

I only built this one to get experince, so I didnt waste a whole lot of money on extra materials. I did put two layer of 3 mil fiberglass on it with the fleece. I could have put more but im not even keeping the sub or the amp. Next month Im upgrading to some really good stuff and Ill build a much stronger enclouser, cause i will be keeping that one. I cant wait to build another one, I had a lot of fun doing it and I so many ideas for new projects. Im a really inventive person so I think I will be good and doing this. And BIGKtc (Happy Birthday) there is this place in St. Pete called Fiberglass Coatings Inc, all they do is fiberglass so they have all the resin and fiber you need. http://www.fgci.com/ This is a link to there website, They were a big help.
