After working on so many not-so-easy cars, such as 350Zs, G35s, etc...I seem to have forgoten how easy many cars are...and I have to say to you guys that own a Scion Tc, you are VERY lucky to have such an easy car to work on, easy to take apart, flat rear floor...deep doors etc...
anyway, enough gushing, i havent dont a Tc custom install in a long time, ever acutally, only done headunits before, and this time, i got to do the kind of install i would acutally prefer to do day in and day out. That is, simple, one amp, one or two subs, two front speakers the quality can vary but the basic rule of thumb is the same.
anyway...
goals:
1. good sound quality
2. fully hidden install
3. classy and clean
in the factory location the customer already had an alpine headunit install, i just tapped into it for rcas and remote:

The Front stage is a set of DLS utimate UR6 6.5" components, The tweeters are flushed into the factory kicks, whcih aim pretty well on axis:

the midbass went into the stock location in the doors via a spacer, the entire door was dampened via Edead V4 Foam and V1 ultra thick, new wires were run into the door via the factory loom.

Moving on to the trunk, here is the normal fully hidden view, the entire floor is fully usable, not an inch of space was lost:

When you remove the carpet, you see a black grill that covers the center of the floor, the entire fake floor is black vinyl.

When you open the grille, here is what you see. A single Elemental Designs 11kv.2 on the left, and a DLS classic CA51 5 channel amp on the right. The CA51, with its on board xovers, is running the UR6 fully active, sending 3500hz up to the tweets, and 80 to 3500 to the midbass, while also running hte 11kv.2 with 250 watts.

The floor underneath the grille is blue suede, to match theoutside of the car

and here is an obligatory wiring pic to show everyhting is neatly done

all in all., i am very happy with the install, sounds very nice, the stock location, while not the best for imaging, does provide a nice high stage and very nice midbass. the single 10 relaly does pound in a small hatch back
enjoy

Anyways speaking of work.....I gotta go....peace out.....
Hey guys,
My name is Bing from simplicity in sound, and did the install
thanks Daniel for posting the pics, it was a pleasure working with you
I am relatively well known in the 350z G35 circle, whcih is why i have done so many of those cars (30 or so in the last year)...but i have to say, given thte choice, i would work on Scions all day
anyway, feel free to browse my website www.simplicityinsound.com , and check out some of hte installs, click on the photos for more info.
i will be here to answer any questions about the install or perhaps sound in general...as far as pricing goes, since i am not a sponsor, i dont want to advertise here, so if you really wanna know, either Daniel can tell you or you can email me through my site
so...first question:
i am not sure what you mean by two tweeter? but the stock tweeter was removed, only one tweeter and one midbass a side upfront

not feeling the tweeters down so low and away from the mid.
I can't tell from the last pic. either the sub is not in a box or the box is super tiny. either too much or too little air.
for my money, you could throw the sub on the right save and would have preserved the spare tire and jack. since this is a stealth install that would make sense.

hey jetlounge, to asnwer some of your questions:
1. kick panel mounted tweets usually provide slightl better reponse interms of image, staging is perfectly fine as i am sure daniel can tell ya. as far as separation goes, one advantage of DLS is that thtey mehs very well together to sound like a single speaker, and with the fully active set up, its easy to tune for a good overall fr response
This is why often ytou see iasca championship cars often have a pillar mounted tweets with a kick panel mounted midbass :0
2. the subbox is a .6 cubfeet sealed enclosure, perfect size for the 11kv.2, so that wouldnt be too smal or too big. the sub box dimenions are 13x16x5"
3. with the swub on the right, there arent too many subs that can fit properly, the elemental designs SQ10 is one, with the scion Tc box, but, that sub's output would really be much lower than the 11kv.2. also, there is also the added issue of mounting the amp to display it. of course one can always mount the amp ABOVE the spare, but i usually iewll not do that, as whe nyou have to access the spare, it would cuase a lot of issues with removing amplifier components, i always plan fo rhte worst, in that when you are trying to change the spare, its probbsaly dark, rainy or windy and on the side of the high way
but iether way thats my opinion

But loving the install, ED and Blue, can it get any better? err maybe if it was in a box instead of tC
right, so since hte spare would be accessibly anyway, why not just leave it out to get a bigger sub and a more flsuhed install in there
AAA card and a can of a fixaflat for around town, and if venturing out to middle of no where, throw the spare in the trunkhehe thast what i have been doing for hte last 15 years and telling my customers also ;)
