Default Need help with 35w to 55w conversion?

Need electrical guru's help!

Okay I have PIAA 002-X foglights. They have H3 bulbs that are 35w.
Well I want to change them to JDM yellow for when I get my 8000k HID kit.
I ordered JDM yellow luminic's in H3 but they only come in 55w so how can I make this work?

Will I need a bigger fuse or just plug and play and foget about it. Or is there more work involved?
Thanks

you can try running a wiring harness and get the power off the battery.

Any other help? The wiring harness it came with goes to the battery and is grounded to the frame but it has a small white wire that connects to a fuse in the fuse box. IF I move that to a larger fuse would that accomidate the increase in wattage>?

Nevermind. that wire goes to the fuse box is for the switch/auto cutoff feature. I have it wired to a 15 fuse.

So what would be envolved in doing a harness? and what would happen if I put the 55w bulbs in the 35w socket? Not enough power?

you need thicker gauge wire and the wiring harness that came with them is probably too small. just wire up a new 16 or 14 gauge wiring harness and you should be fine.

55watts / 12vdc = 4.58amps (each bulb) X 2 bulbs = 9.16 amps
35watts / 12vdc = 2.92 amps (each bulb) X 2 bulbs = 5.84 amps

You're using 1.5 times the amount of current by switching to the 55 watt bulbs. I feel switching to a larger gauge wire would be a good idea. You've mentioned a 15 amp fuse is already in the circuit. According to the above calculations this should be close to ideal if you're using a pair of the 55 watt bulbs...though if you're blowing fuses after a few minutes, switching to NOTHING MORE THAN 20 amps would be OK. If you're still blowing fuses, upgrade to a larger wire gauge.

EDIT: I should add, I know nothing about bulb fitments, and am unsure of compatibility.
