Default need how to on installing harnesses for race seats!!

Ok I am getting race seats and I really wanna do the 4 point harnesses too.

I was wondering if anybody could show me how they installed theirs or any advice/comments would be nice. The sooner the better. I was wondering if there was some sort of bar to attach them to. I wanna keep my back seats just so ya know.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can keep the backseats if you want to use a harness...

I didn't know if there was a bar that went from one seatbelt pillar to the other. I couldve sworn I had seen a tc with backseats and harnesses.

Yes, there are tC's with harnesses and back seats. Plenty of them I think actually.

The key thing is that the harnesses main support behind you is at or above shoulder height so you dont compress your spine if you hit something. So a harness bar may be needed, which I think some companies do make (dont ask me who, because I dont remember).

Just as a disclaimer, harnesses are LESS safe on a car without a roll bar or cage. If the car rolls, you are held firmly in an upright position, meaning the roof doesnt have to collapse very far before you are gone gone. With standard belts, your body can lean a good amount in the same situation, meaning less chance of getting squished.

Thanks for the info man. I am more wanting them just for shows.

I am trying to find a harness bar that goes where the existing seatbelts are but can't find one. Although I know they are out there.

If anybody has any info on that I would appreciate it. Also, after running the harnesses over the bar what exactly would they attach to?

NRG makes one, the HBR-003, but you have to cut. I am doing my interior this weekend and next weekend and will post pics when I am done.

Thanks for the info. Kinda looking for one that is bolt on and doesn't need modding.

Pic of the NRG bar in my car. Would have worked with the backseats but back seat passengers would be seriously injured if there was an accident. I turned my tc into a true 2 seater, shaved the rear cup holders, built covers for the seat area and such.

Does the bar just bolt in and how does it if it does?

Looks really good.

Also what do the harnesses attach to after they go over the harness bar? Or are they actually attached to the harness bar?

Sorry for all the noob questions. Just trying to get everything right.

Install is ok, Need to get some custom hardware for the end peices. Hardware that comes with it does not work. Had to get some custom spacers, longer bolts and such. Bar works with the tC but definitly not made for it.

ah ok. May have to try to find one that is designed for the tC.

Didn't realize i was talking to the guy that does gauge swaps. That is another big thing i wanna do but i can't ride without my gauges since it is a daily driver.

There is not one made specificially for the tC. Sparco promised me one for almost 2 years straight and never came through. Few months ago they finally admitted they had no plans to make one in the first place. Thanks for leading me on all that time sparco... grrrrrr.

Mine was more custom than others, my b-pillars were shaved of the oem seatbelts so the hardware I used would not work for anyone else.

Do you think somewhere such as Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. would have something that would make it work or no.....?

Ace has a killer selection of nuts / bolts and general hardware.

So cut the plastic from where the seat belt is bolted, try to find the general hardware/nuts/bolts from somewhere else, bolt in the harness bar.....is that basically it? Should I install tthe harness bar then the seats or the seats then the harness bar?
