often times, if someone ONLY replaces their speakers, they find that they're not as loud and clear, this is because OEM speakers are very sensitive and aftermarket speakers are less sensitive (meaning OEM can produce more with less input and aftermarket require more input for the same output).... this is why many people will put an amp in with speakers, or change the HU with new speakers... If you only want to replace the speakers, look for ones with a higher sensitivity rating than other aftermarket speakers... (sensitivity SHOULD be listed on any spec sheet as a dB rating)

then you should be golden w/a set of aftermarket speakers... 6.5's for the front and 6.5's in the rear.... you'll have to make some baffles from 3/4" MDF to get a good, secure fitment... if you don't have the tools/knowhow, you can buy baffles from Elemental Design or I'm sure someone here on SL has some for sale.... How much $$$ are you willing to spend on replacement speakers? do you want to have an amp running the speakers or just run them from the HU?? stock, the speakers probably receive in the area of 12-17 watts each from the HU, but since you have an aftermarket HU, I'd say you're pushing ~22RMS to each... that's not much power, so if you aren't going to amplify the replacement speakers, look for that high sensitivity rating..

it's not 6x5, it's 6.5" or six and a half inch diameter....

You'll have to contact Elemental Design to get the baffles as I can't find them on their website.... Talk to Chris, tell him SCI_TC_GUY sent you..hehe...

Wiring will be simple if you want to just run the speakers from the HU... if you're going to amp them, it'll be a little more difficult, but it's not as bad as alot of people think...

www.edesignaudio.com/sciontc.php

$20/pair + shipping.

Even w/ an aftermarket HU, ideally aftermarket speakers would get amped. They'll sound a bajillion times better(technical term there)

I have found that you are probably better of atleast in my tC i was better off,

Ditching the rear fill going with just the front and a sub in the trunk...

Sounds alot cleaner to me anyways, when i had my EF-6's hooked up in the rear sound'd messier... than when i just have the CL-61's hooked up... in the front
