Default Need some advice on my system...

Im going to get a new system very soon and need some advice. Im gonna go with an alpine type r setup. 1 10" type r sub for sure witha kenwood dpx-701 head unit and an alpine mono sub amp. My question is regarding the door speakers. Should i use component type r speakers in the front and none in the back. or should i go with some type r two ways in the back with type r component in the front? What size type r speakers will fit? Am I gonna have to go with the 5.25" components or will 6.5" components fit? Will 5.25" 2 ways fit the back or can i fit 6.5" 2 ways in the back seat? Thanks...

If you want to improve sound quality and save money at the same time, then yes, leave out the rear speakers. Front size is 6.5". Your front components would also sound a lot better using an outboard amp with high-pass crossover rather than head unit power, or you might consider using a 4 channel amp instead, with 2 of them bridged for the sub.

Also any recomendations for an enclosure for the sub? I tend to like tighter more accurate bass but will want a little boom to it as well. So i was thinking a sealed/ported with something like 1.25 cubic maybe? Or would i be better advised going a different direction. The reason im going with the 10" is trunk space and the fact i dont need anything to excessive as far as volume goes. I had a pathfinder in the past witha kenwood system and a 12" and it was more htan enough. The tc beng so much smaller im sure a decent 10" type r will be sufficient for me.

I believe the dpx-701 has a system e+ which has a high, mid and low pass crossovers for the preout and speaker outs.

A single 10" will really pound in the tC, with just a small sealed enclosure, and it doesn't require much power either. As for enclosure volume, the specific sub should come with a spec sheet stating the size range for sealed boxes, or at least listing the "minimum" and "recommended" volumes, and I'd suggest going with the largest recommended for SQ. I get the feeling it'll be smaller than 1.25' for that sub, probably more like 0.8'. Not really any incentive to go ported imo, as the sealed should provide you with more than enough output, with better SQ too.

Cool that the HU has that filtering capability. Using a high-pass for the fronts will certainly improve the sound compared to feeding them a full-range signal, so it's possible you might find the HU power adequate. Everyone's different, and if you decide you need more power or want better SQ later on, you could then add another amp to power the front stage.
