hey guys i'm trying to get rid of my pioneer n1 to some new double din navigation
but i can not relly dicide btween pioneer and eclipse.
i like the feature of eclipse but seems like pioneer has better sound quality and video quaility.
and pioneer has alot more of POIs. (pioneer has 11million eclipse has 4million.)
does anybody want to give me any advice on the selection?
i'll appreciate that!

 

Im in the same boat. I can't decide between the two either, but i am far from actually getting one or the other. So for now im just looking at how others have come out.

 

Theres alot of threads that talk about these two.
The Eclipse HU will work with the steering wheel control w/o any additional parts.
The D1 has navi traffic.
IMO I like my D1 for its price.

 

You can find the D1 brand new for a little less than a grand nowadays..I know I got it for 995 shipping included. The resolution on the D1 is a lot higher than the eclipse unit so it looks sharper/better..Both units have the same features except Navtraffic, other than that I wouldn't mind having either.

Be sure to buy the Pac-SWI-PS if you are goin with the D1 so you'll be able to use the steering wheel controls.

Oh and the D1 has some cheesy background pictures ..that''s the only thing I would complain about and you can't upload new ones like the N2. Oh well.

Forgot to mention that the D1 doesn't put thing in order when searching..which is annoying and would make things easier to sort through if things were in alpha order. It doesn't find some welll known places..probably due to the map discs...it routes me to places 100s of miles away!

 

I have the Eclipse 5435, or whatever the DVD based system is. (the xx95 is HD based). The big complaint I am hearing about the xx95 is how horrible the Mp3 transfer process is: the unit does not recognize Dvd/mp3's, so you are forced to burn them to cd's, which takes considerable time.

ALso, as far as I remember the D1 does not play dvd's without an ext player, so if watching movies while you drive is mportant, that's somethign to think about.
