Default New AVIC-D1 in my tC. Comments?

Just some qick pics, we did the install today in about an hour (with a XM radio box). we didn't have toime to dremmel the door (it gets cought on the bottom silver ***). And yes it is WOODGRAIN in the backgound..

[What you know about grippin woodgrain in the turning lane] -Mike Jones

If you haven't read my other posts about my system (which is growing in my parents dining room and waiting to be installed) I'm doing 7" monitors in the head rests and a moderate sound set up, something rather modest.

I feel it is tacky to post pictures of what isn't in my car yet, so as I get it installed i will post more pictures.

SGR is $1800 as he said, they usually go for about $1600

can find them much cheaper though.. I got a brother who works at Circuit city, so I got it direct through Pioneer. 1600-1800 isn't realy worth it. i'll be honest, but i'm going to eventually (hopefully) make my tC into a show car so to me the ammount i paid seemed fair. Also i drive about 3000 miles a month (give or take a couple hundred)

omg thanks for posting pics ive been waiting forever for someone to post something about the d1 ive been waiting to get it but wasnt sure about the fit, but after seeing that it looks great! i have a few questions though ...

*Did you have to buy anything else (adapters/wires) or everything was included in the d1 package?
*Where did you mount the gps antenna?
*What do you think of the d1 compared to the eclipse unit?

sorry for all the questions

A wire harness is all that is needed ~$20

The GPS antenna is actually in the corner between my windshield and dash (it looks extremely clean) mirroring my XM antenna. I'll post pics.

I honestly have no expierance with the Eclipse unit.. But I've heard good things.. The benifit about the D1 is that there is no seperate box (i don't know if the eclipse has a seprate Navi box).

I'll be honest, be careful who you take your tC to for the D1 install, the only information about the speedsense wire is that it is lavender.. but there is about 1,000,000 lavender wires that lead in to the ECU. I drove arround for about 20 minutes with my friend laying in the passanger seat testing the various wires.

now back to paying bills..

I think the D1 is a good headunit but it doesn't have DVD video playback. Correct me of i'm wrong. Looks nice though!

Did you install your avic-d1 by yourself or did you have it done. If so how much did it cost?

once you buy the hardware for navi thats it...no monthly billing or sevice charge of any kind.

Satellite radio you have to pay for service, just like a cell phone or cable tv....
