Default New Head Unit

so i searched and couldnt really find anything up to date about good afermarket HU. i got my amp and subs and now its time to get a HU i have $200 limit and need IDEAS. i wanted to get one that would fill the whole area but i wouldnt mind not doing that as well. i know they have some nice touch screens but cani really find one for 200. help would be great thanks.

also i only have one amp now but planning on upgrading my front speakers so i would have to get one with dual RCA outs right? or does it not hurt the sound quality buying the Y splits for RCAs

First off, you won't find a touch screen/navi for $200. Second off, no, RCA splitters will not suffice, you need a HU with at least a Front output and Sub/Rear output. For your price range, I'd recommend the following:

Pioneer 5000UB
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...ures_and_specs

Alpine CDA 9984
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...ures_and_specs

Kenwood MP635
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...&tp=5684&avf=N

Those are 3 good options to get you started. And you can find these unit cheaper (most likely) at places like sonicelextronix.com and ebay.

Ooo $300 is the sweet spot. If you are CRAZY about sound quality and being able to have ultimate control over your sound, I'd get this:

That's what I'm getting after I sell my 6900UB

It's the epitome of SQ head units, IMO. If you aren't that obsessed with sound quality though, we can find you something much more in your style.

Sorry for double post, but this may be more your thing. For $300, it can't be beat as far as touch screen DVD monitors go.

It's a Dual, but it's pretty decent according to a few reviews

I've got the Kenwood Mp-635 and it works great for my set up. Fairly flexible as to how you want it to sound. I love the display and its why I got it. I only paid 150 on sale at bb. Combined with my $150 Mtx amp and sub from crutchfield, I'm real happy with my sub $300 system.

yea it's a pretty nice HU. i wanted a little more but it'll be fine for most people.

i have had it up for sale on here and 2 car audio forums and it's still not gone. i'm not really sure why. i know $200 shipped isn't a bad price.
