Default The new security system for the upcoming new car.

Hey everyone,

I am getting the 08 TC in about a month, and here is my current set-up for my security system.

I was a victim of a car break-in back in December of last year, and after that I have become security-wise and even paranoid sometime. So to say the least, I want the best protection for my new car. Here's the alarm system:

Clifford Matrix RSX50.5 2-Way Security System / Remote Start System with Responder SST Technology
(I Programmed it to Passive Arming for when you forget to arm the car sometimes, the alarm will arm itself after the key been out of the ignition for a certain period of time)

Added Sensor/Features to the alarm:
- DEI Audio/Glass breakage sensor (For when thieves try to silently crack the glass)
- DEI Tilt Sensor (For when someone try to lift or tow your car away)
- DEI Back-up Battery (For when the thieves disconnect the main battery)
- DEI Battery-Backed Siren (When the main siren is out, the second kicks in)
- DEI Auto Window Roll-Up Module (For when I sometimes forget to roll-up windows)
- DEI Piezo Alarm (For when they do get to my interior, this will generate a painful soundwave to their ears, hence the reason this Piezo is aka "Pain Generator".

(I originally wanted to get the motion/proximity sensor, but I have realized that it's more of a nuisance than anything.)

On top of that, I added a bright RED L.E.D. status indicator to warn and deter thieves that my car is ARMED. I also bought a CLUB LX for the extra added layer of security. I know The Club is easy to bypass, but if it can deter or slow them down a few minutes, it's well worth it.

I also bought a motion detecting security light to the front of my house to go along with my stealth video camera, and I will be getting a Glock or Beretta in about 7 months, when I turn 21. So if someone can go through all those layers of security, and has the determination, then by all means, THEY DESERVE IT.

If you can bypass all that I have set-up, there's nothing much I can do but praise the thief that took it.

Sounds good, how much is the whole set up running you? The only other thing I can think of is tint as well as the obvious stuff like not leaving CD cases, CD's, or other valuables in plain site.

I'd get this instead of the Club.

Hmmm... Mag .44, 6 rds... Glock...(9mm, 10mm, .40, .45, .357 sig, .45 GAP)10 - 32 rds.. Gimme the Glock anyday. The .44 mag is notorius for over penetration, plus the felt recoil is of course substantially higher.

Now before you start planning on taking someones life you'd better read up on your states laws. I have a good friend serving time because he chased an assailant out of his home and shot him ( the thief turned and pulled a knife, my buddy fired twice killing him) Had he stayed in the house and waited for the police he would not be serving 15 years for manslaughter.

Nothing is going to stop a thief that really wants your stuff. I say if they can get past your planning (w/o a gun) then let them have it and keep your freedom & sanity

If you want something really cool, see if they still make hotseats (A stun gun for your seats that you can program shock times to keep a thief....sedated )

Psh... there's still a lot more you can do.
Shave your interior and exterior handles/locks, and replace interior with momentary switches that only can be triggered when the car is off and the Alarm is not armed/going off.
Secure any and all audio devices with security screws. If it attaches to something that can break off, fiberglass it to that piece and reinforce it with steel inbetween some layers of glass. Make them take the whole thing.
No less than 5 piezo sirens in the car's cabin itself, so the intruder can't possibly stick around inside long enough to do anything.

This is just off the top of my head. I'm sure I can think of some more :D

I'm a big fan of the auto lock. That with the alarm should protect the car from being stolen. But you seem a little paranoid to me. Did they take alot the first break in?

That seems a lot for a tc. I wouldn't put something like that in unless I'm driving a benz. Especially that motion sensor in front of house camera.

I am in San Francisco.

My 1st break-in back in December happen on the morning after Christmas. I never felt the way I did before until that very day. Just walking out to your car ready for another day at work, until suddenly it shocks you. Shattered glass everywhere. They unbolted my OEM leather seats off my 5th generation Prelude!!!

I know whoever did it must be pretty skilled or familiar with Preludes. I never heard my cheap alarm at the time, a Alpine, went off. They had a good 4-5 mins in my car unbolting those seats, which cost me $2,500 with installation from the dealership. Man... I do not want that feeling or sight again.

The whole set-up including installation will run me around $900. I believe that there are things you cannot compromise, and some you can.

Alleno0lv: yeah I will definitely get tints, probably 20% again like my last car. For the looks and security also.

And about the glock situation. I will be smarter than to shoot him if he's not armed himself. If I see that he has a gun too, and is pointing in my direction, I will shoot him, but I rather injure him than kill him if it does come down to that predicament.

The glock is basically for when I do get a page on my alarm in the middle of the night, then I will run out with my glock and see whats going on. If I catch the thievs red handed, I will hold them at gunpoint and handcuff them/him. And I will call the cops from there.

im thinking about getting a better alarm myself. something like your set up. where did you purchase it from?

also, one more thing you could do (you lose some safety with this) is to replace the steering wheel, and get a quick release hub. that way you can take the steering wheel with you when your not in the car. that is also a mod i plan to do for looks and security

Just buy a reliable security system w/ paging alarm.....then buy RELIABLE car insurance....TAKE OFF ALL THOSE DAMN 'Pioneer, TRD, Eclipse, etcs' DECALS!!!

Jackers will look for the flashy stuff, I'm not saying that decals = robbery, but if you broadcast what you have, robbers will take it. Now, I've seen clunkers get broken into too, but like tml057 put it...SECURE EVERYTHING YOU CAN!!

I personally don't like guns....I feel that NO CAR is worth my life, so why should it be worth someone else's? Just my two cents....get a reliable alarm first dude, good luck

y dont u park ur car in ur garage? and make it break in proof?

like steele door with deadbolts, sturdy garage door with a lock on it. breakproof glass on the windows. i dont think u need a camera to watch ur car all the time. if someone wants your car they will get your car.
