Default New system I bought.

Hey guys. I just got home from buying a system. These are what is comes with:

Sony 12" Xplod Sub (the new black one)
Sony Xplod Amp (not sure what one it is..trying to find a picture...its 1200W PEAK tho if that helps)
Sub Box vented

I was just wondering if this would be loud enough for my. The guy at the store said it would be plenty loud.

I got the whole packge installed (on monday) for $537. Is this a good deal?

BTW, I'll find hte links of the sub and amp.

AMP (I'm not sure if this is the exact amp..but it LOOKS like the excat one that was in the store..I remember because the color of the AMP reminded me of the color of my car.Flint Mica.:

I have never been a fan of sony stuff... I sold car audio for 3 years and sony wouldn't be my first pick for a system... you figure a decent entry level amp will run you $200 + 100 for a good 12" +50 or so for a box.... around 50 in cables and then 50 or so for install... this would be he cheapest decent basic setup I would have ever sold... so it's in the 450 range... I imagine this is about how much the sony package should have cost you... so I hat to tell you I don't think they saved you any money... unless you also bought a head unit... then you did ok. And as far is it being loud enough? the vented box will help but lets face it, it's never loud enough!

I got an Audiobahn 15" sub, Crunch 1000watt (max) amp, a sheet of 3/4" Oak, and a wiring kit for $330. Installed myself and built the box myself. Why am I telling you this? Internet retailers can get you MUCH better deals and building a nice sealed box yourself saves a lot of money.

I am not a fan of Sony car audio. It should be plenty loud as long as you just want it for some bass.

Just be careful, do NOT turn the gain up all the way on the amp. That kills subs even at low volume.

Alright sweet. What would you go about replacing/doing next. These are the current mods on my car:

-Silverstar LOWs
-S2000 Antenna
-35% Tint
-The sub, amp, and box.

Would you replace the door speakers next, or get a HU? Or would you go with an exhaust or CAI.

depends on the budget you have to work with. If you can afford it, go with honey0bucket's idea. If you only got a few hondo to spend...get the CAI or a new HU.

i used to rock a couple of 12" xplods. they're not BAD, but not really that great either. Will play fairly loud and low, but no crisp accurate bass. I think my 2 10"s i have now play AS loud.

but for a beginner, they'll be okay. Enjoy the Low Notes.

It is usually setup where I can't see the speaker at all (from the back, like the last picture). I just had it angled a bit so you could see the sub. Its usually flat against the seat. I didn't move anything since I got it back from the shop - they installed everything!

I have the red Sony Xplod 12" sub, and a 600wt amp. It kicks plenty hard, but it's not so loud that it rattles everyone's house windows when you roll down the street. I got a custom setup though, I'll post pictures later today.

i don't know if there is a difference in the speakers or not.. but one amp that has 2X as much power (wattage) will only be about 3dB increase in volume with the same speaker. (twice as much power does not mean that it is twice as loud)
